Modern Atlanta Wedding
Time and again, Juli of Juli Vaughn Designs has shown us she’s the go-to gal for incredible and inspiring design for weddings and parties alike. Lindsay and Ryan’s big day was full of everything nice – whimsy, color, beautiful blooms, and a whole lotta love, all captured perfectly by Altmix Photography!
From the bride, Lindsay: Bright and fun. I really wanted it to feel like summer. We wanted to be able to have the ceremony and reception take place at the same location and have the ceremony be outdoors. JCT was the perfect venue to accommodate that. I wanted a color explosion. I didn’t want to be limited to “wedding colors” and really wanted it to feel like a celebration. I didn’t want it to feel traditional and I didn’t want to be restricted to any wedding stereotypes. More than anything I wanted it to reflect our personalities.
Wedding flowers: Ranunculus. They are my favorite. Also garden roses, china berries, succulents and air plants, marigolds. But the standout was the over-sized handmade paper flowers.
Early on I started calling it the Yay! Wedding and over time that really became the theme. There was a lot of bright color mainly orange, pink, yellow and blue. The DIY pieces got a little out of control. Finally the week before the wedding my planner told me I was no longer allowed to make anything else. It started with the dinosaur escort cards. I have a thing for dinosaurs and wanted to incorporate them somehow. I spent an entire day spray painting them with my mom. Then there were hand painted signs, program fans, coasters and menus. I also did the invitations which included a poster, felt patches and were all stitched shut.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? The best part wasn’t what it looked, tasted or sounded like. It was having all our friends and family there to celebrate with us. Hire vendors you trust and then trust them. I gave them all a lot of free reign to do what they thought was best. It created for an amazingly stress free day.

Wedding Music:
For the processional we did Beatles songs. Here Comes the sun for family and wedding party and then Blackbird for me.
Bridal Party Processional: “Here Comes the Sun,” The Beatles
Bride’s Processional: “Blackbird,” The Beatles
Recessional: “Better Together,” Jack Johnson
Father/Daughter Dance: “What a Wonderful World”
The best song was the Hora though. Even if you aren’t Jewish you should do the hora. It’s just so much fun.

I LOVE the bright colors! Oh my gosh. You see so many muted colors as a trend these days, and while they are very beautiful, I love a pop of fabulous color!
What a pretty and fun wedding! I love the colors! Love the mixed ribbons hanging down from her bouquet.
Amazing, i love the colors!!
