Mint Springs Farm Wedding

When you have a bride who’s a floral designer, you know her wedding decorations are going to be something special. Such is the case with today’s bride, AK, who chose to deck out her big day at Mint Springs Farm with endless ferns, garden roses, peonies, and amaranthus. Lindsey Johnson Photography was there to capture the wedding, and we’re pretty keen on her images:

From the bride, AK: Weddings are a wonderful opportunity to have so many friends and family come together for a big meal! We didn’t want anything too fussy but envisioned something traditional, comforting, and celebratory. Having the ceremony and reception at the same place made it easier for our out of town guests. Including pictures and family mementos made our wedding part of a bigger history. And having the majority of the decorations be flowers and sycamore limbs from my uncle’s farm helped the evening feel natural. We laughed the entire night with such a wonderful reunion of people!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? I hope you enjoy the process as much as the final day! Make decisions that allow you to enjoy and be fully present on your wedding day, instead of stressing about final details.

From the florist, Caroline: I knew the moment she came in she was going to be a dream to work with. She is a fellow floral designer so florals were very important to her. Her design aesthetic goes right along with her own personal style which is natural, organic and eclectic. She and her mother brought in sycamore branches from their property to incorporate into the tablescapes. Her colors were very neutral with a touch of dark foliage to contrast with the whites and creams. Her flowers were organic and textural including: maidenhair fern, sword fern, foxtail fern, Patience garden rose, white sweet pea, white astilbe, scented geranium, Green Mist, lysmochia, cream lisianthus, white peony, white astrantia, rosemary, mint, white or blue thistle, white clematis, green hanging amaranthus, olive branch, white spray rose, Begonia foliage, Coleus, and dark purple potato vine.

Her bridesmaids’ bouquets were natural and neutral as they all wore different shades of sage. She also had several honorary bridesmaids from school and I made them a mixture of floral crowns made from olive branch and jasmine vine and a few floral necklaces to make them stand out from her bridesmaids. AK wanted her bouquet to include flowers from a friend’s garden and particularly Juliet garden roses to make hers stand out. Her tablescapes were flanked with sycamore branches moss and mini ferns plants potted into antique silver pieces with organic arrangements in glass footed compotes. From start to end AK and her mother wanted to incorporate special elements at their front table, like vintage hats, lamps and family heirlooms like her grandparents’ bible and pictures of their family. For their ceremony she wanted to use some of her vintage wood crates as props for potted plants which gave it a very botanical look. The whole process was such a joy and she really embraced an overall organic look that worked so well with her surroundings. She had a vision and every element of the wedding meant something to the couple which added to it being the special wedding it was.
