Italian Inspired Backyard Wedding

A dinner party wedding in the bride’s mother’s backyard — it doesn’t get much better than this! Max and Morgan centered their theme around their Italian heritage, adding lots of greenery and herbs to their wedding day and focusing on a truly family style dinner. Julia Elizabeth Photography shone as the photographer, and Harwinton Florist designed the gorgeous floral arrangements.

From the couple, Max and Morgan: Our vision was to create a day that was all about friends and family. Getting married in my mother’s backyard, where I grew up exploring and day dreaming was so special to Max and I. We wanted to share my nostalgia with our guests. Make them feel like they were home. A day filled with hearty meals, lawn games, laughter and family, a backyard wedding but with a modern feel. Even though our wedding was on the larger size, we wanted it to feel intimate. Like a dinner party with family on a summer night. Max and I have so much fun in our relationship dancing and goofing around, we also wanted our guests to experience that with us! I remember Max telling the DJ to never stop the music, Keep the party going!! With full bellies, surrounded by close friends and family, the night was a total hit.

Our theme went around our Italian heritage, we kept it simple with light grey, and green. For flowers we stuck with herbs and greens (rosemary, and different breeds of eucalyptus). The main DIY projects involved in the wedding were the birch arbor we got married under my mothers friend donated a birch tree off her property for us to use, the “LOVE” marquee sign was made by my husband and his best man, the custom corn hole game and Jenga games were made by my father, and most of the decorations were made by the bride and bridesmaids. TEAM EFFORT!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Our advice would be to not stress! Its an important day, but its only one day in your life! Don’t forget why your getting married (it’s about a celebration about two people becoming one, not about the party itself!)
