Hawaiian Inspired Bridal Shower
What better way to celebrate an upcoming destination wedding than throwing a bridal shower with a taste of Hawaii? The Maid of Honor brought on event designer Claudette Marie Events to bring her vision to life, including a striking lasercut backdrop and mid-century touches. Parrish House Photos took control behind the camera, while Amborella Floral Studio made the lovely floral arrangements!
From the Maid of Honor: As it was my first time being a Maid of Honour, being responsible for all the pre-wedding events was exciting yet nerve wracking. Erin is my husband’s cousin. The upcoming wedding will be in Wailea, Maui this spring. With Hawaii as the theme of her destination wedding, I wanted to bring the tropics to our hometown of Calgary, Canada.
I instilled the help of Claudette of Claudette Marie Events to help with the design and coordination of the shower. Taking from my love of anything mid century and the bride’s wedding theme, we combined the two. Erin has always trusted my design aesthetic, which is why I wasn’t shy to include design elements that I was attracted to. We wanted to spoil the bride, her closest friends and family with a taste of Hawaii with a modern twist. As with most destination weddings, not all guests are going to be able to make the trip, we still wanted to make feel included in the pre-wedding events. We selected her parents’ new home to host the afternoon, as the open design and pouring in of natural light was perfect for the vision and table design in mind.
Claudette and I spent a lot of time selecting the right feminine decor for the shower, from the pink tapered candles, gold cutlery, to the palm leaf runner. With the help of chef Andrew from Whippt, he customized the perfect selection of food, such as coconut crusted chicken to a delicious pineapple mango salad. To top off the meal, there was a towering white naked drip cake, adorned in fresh flowers that complemented the sweets table. We selected Erin’s favourite flavor, passion fruit vanilla rum. This coincidentally was my wedding cake flavor and has been a family favourite ever since. The ladies all enjoyed rose and an array of treats, while sharing stories and wedding advice. Hosting this shower meant the bride was able to spend quality time with the women closest to her while making her feel celebrated and loved!
