Dreamy Rose Gold Wedding

Taryn and Nick are two high school sweethearts turned newlyweds who celebrated their vows to each other on the bride’s own birthday. From the bride, Taryn: Nick and I were together 8 years when we got engaged. We met when I was 16 and he was 18. High school sweethearts some might say. We always knew we would end up together and always planned on it. Most of our years were spent in different states, though, as we attended different colleges and began our careers. My mom, an event planner, and I had been discussing my wedding plans for years. Filing away photos of flowers, dresses, linens, embroidery designs and color schemes we liked. The minute the ring was on, it was game time. I always dreamed of a fall wedding outside, strategically timed before day light savings. Checking the calendar for dates, our family’s rabbi had limited availability in the fall. The only date which worked for all of us would be on my 25th birthday and I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Nick crashed my 16th birthday in high school and that’s really when I knew he liked me, so this seemed like a special touch coming full circle. I guess he will be crashing my birthday for the rest of our lives! He was really hoping the wedding was on my birthday. Now he only needs to remember one date!

I wanted a romantic, warm and inviting look without being over the top. And, that’s what I got. I had my own “Franck” a la Father of the Bride, and he tied everything together and had several surprises for me. The wedding was at Westlake Village Inn, which looks like a vineyard estate and has a freestanding tent. A rustic, yet elegant look. The hotel became a destination wedding for us Westsiders who don’t venture far. It had all the best elements without feeling like a stuffy hotel ballroom. It was perfect.

Flowers and all the small details were so important to me. The color scheme was blush, ivory, green and a pop of one dark color. The arrangements were a mix of high and low vases, all different antique silver mixed with votive candles and petals. Three long tables framed the dance floor. A mix of rectangle and round tables were used to fill the room to make the space feel warm and less formal. We used rose gold flatware to balance the blush linens. Lighting throughout the tent was amber and pink to compliment the reception tent. Vineyard chairs were the last touch to make the room perfect.

Detail to attention was a must. We had custom drinks, letter-pressed napkins, and drink stirrers. We monogrammed bathrobes for the bridal party, handkerchiefs with our initials hung on vintage racks during the ceremony for ‘your tears of joy’, each parent and grandparent received personalized hankies and we even monogrammed welcome bags with our wedding hashtag #sarnoffisthenewblack. Our delicious, simple and beautiful wedding cake was topped with a wedding cake topper Nick and I picked from my mom’s vintage collection. The cutting of the cake was almost a private moment as everyone was so busy dancing, eating homemade gourmet cotton candy or snacking at the late night French fry bar. The evening was so very special. Since Nick and I had been together so long, all of our closest family and friends have watched us grow up together. We were able to be with all the people who we loved most, our nearest and dearest. I felt like I was floating through the day for the most perfect celebration of our love and the start of our life as husband and wife.
