Keira + Dan’s Quirky New England Wedding I
When Megan from Hello Super 8 sent over this wedding I jumped for joy. It’s a Ruffled classic – it got vintage, quirky and a warm vibe all around. Big thanks to the ladies at Studio Nouveau for sharing these images with us!
A little bit from the bride, Keira:
Dan and I had a great day on October 17. We got married.
We really owe most of our inspiration to one lovely piece of fuchsia tulle. I had already picked out my dress from Stephanie James Couture when they sent me a few color samples–including fuchsia. Pink was never a favorite of mine, but something about this color–a little sweet but a little edgy–just hooked me. It sort of snowballed from there. Several times during planning I would hear myself or someone say “Wouldn’t it be cool if we could…”? Wear a shark as a boutonniere? Have bridesmaids in dresses with antlers and mermaids? Use “I give you this ring because you are my favorite” as part of our vows? Both walk down the aisle with our parents? So we just decided to do all of them. When we took the rules of what we could and couldn’t do away–that’s when the wedding started to feel like us. I think it worked–so many people commented on how the wedding felt authentic, but never alienating.
Stay tuned for part II and their Super 8mm video!
those boutonnieres are AMAZING! I love the octopus one the most. What a beautiful dress and shoes too! Congrats to the happy couple!
OMG I want more!! I love them and her dress and the guys bouts! This looks like a fun start to a fun wedding!! Congrats to them for being who they are and showing that in their wedding!
I love quirky weddings…can’t wait to see part 2!!
I love the colors and the uniqueness this great couple has! Their wedding looks like a blast!
The bouts are a hoot! Love em!
Megan and Dan are obviously BAMFs. I’m going to give the MVP award for this wedding to that amazing aqua railing though. Can’t wait to see more!
Too cute! That tulle is amazing.
Any information on where the shark boutonniere was purchased? I love love!
Do you have any advice as to where I could get a shark figure a bit like the one on that boutonniere (or one that would work well with being made into a boutonniere)? I showed this website to my boyfriend and he exclaimed, “I love that shark boutonniere! Can you make me one?” So I’m going to try. 😛 I have no idea where to get the materials to make it, though.
The other post mentions that the bouts were made by one of the bridesmaids. I checked out her Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/drinkingstars) and it is so cute! I want the cotton candy one!! Looks like she is open to custom stuff too.
Dan and Keira’s wedding was so sweet and special on a million different levels, and I was such a lucky girl to be a part of it. I made most of the boutonnieres out of plastic kids toys and collected odds and ends. My very patient husband helped me saw the head off that shark- it took much longer than planned! I would be happy to make similar ones if anyone is interested, or i looooove custom orders, so send me a convo with your ideas~ My etsy shop is drinkingstars.etsy.com. Thanks so much for all the great feedback!
