Destination Wedding in Maui: A 13 Year Romance in the Making

Maui is not only a dream vacation destination but also makes for a breathtaking tropical wedding and Kelsie & Beau are serving up some serious wedding inspiration. The couple along with their wedding planners from A White Orchid Wedding Inc, dreamed up a modern and tropical evening that is oozing with romance. We especially love the photo op they created with a neon sign, tropical florals and a vintage peacock chair that is a serious mood. Angie Diaz beautifully caught every gorgeous detail that you will be oohing and aahing over!

From the bride: Beau purposed to me in April 2018 right before his 3rd deployment to Afghanistan. After a year of him being deployed, and having so much fun keeping our minds off of the deployment and more on our wedding, we were above and beyond excited to have something so special to look forward to upon his return. Leading up to our special day, we had so much fun at all of the events prior. Party planning, tastings, fittings, traveling to Vegas and Napa with our best friends and so much more.

The inspiration of our wedding was a pairing of modern, tropical romance. Being that we are both born and raised on the beautiful island of Maui we were so lucky to have been able to pick our dream location on island to tie the knot. Olowalu offers so much beauty on its own, we just wanted to go with the vibe and all the beauty that the property has to offer. Being a hairdresser and from Maui, I was blessed with several clients who are in the wedding industry. We were so lucky to be able to collaborate with the most amazing people to bring our dream day to reality.

The ceremony was everything we wanted and dreamed it to be. Our guest count was 150 people, which was perfect and still felt intimate. From our tropical floral that represented the beauty of where we are from, to our custom calligraphy signage that represented us as a couple, our “drunk in love” neon sign with a vintage peacock chair for photo opportunities, the modern furniture rentals, down to the gorgeous table decor, romantic lighting, hand picked cocktails & delicious food it was everything and more!

We just love the monstera leaf napkins and bright tropical florals, especially the anthuriums, at this beautiful destination wedding in Maui.

Our ceremony began at 4:00p.m. as we gathered with all of our loved ones where we tied the knot under the palmtrees, with the ocean behind us gathered by all of our loved ones. Beau and I decided not to do a first look. I took my dad’s arm as we walked towards the aisle. With full hearts, and tears in our eyes we locked eyes for the first time on the day that meant the world to us October 5th 2019. It was such a magical moment, he had the biggest smile on his face when he saw me and it will always hold a place in my heart. There we were the same teenagers that fell in love 13 years ago….What a moment in time!

I highly recommend getting both photos and videography to capture your special day with all that goes into it, it’s amazing to have both to reflect back on. Most importantly when things get stressful, remind yourself that this day is about the celebration of the two of you and your love and don’t let anything or anyone get in the way of the true meaning of your day. The biggest piece of advice that I could give is that a coordinator is a must have, as they don’t miss any details and help stay with in your budget. Enjoy every moment as it sure does goes by quickly just as everyone says!
