Cozy Engagement Session at a Cottage by the Lake
Well if this isn’t the world’s most adorable couple, then we don’t know what is. Hailey and Robert’s cozy engagement session has us free fallin’ into a tunnel of warm fuzzies. A gallery that captures the essence of their personalities, they ventured to those natural places close to their hearts. No frills, no gimmicks. Their engagement session reflected their everyday.
Oh how we love the raw beauty captured by Whitney Heard. She let these real moments unfold organically, and we’re forever inspired by all the TLC to tell you the truth.
We request the highest of fives for makeup artist, Cheryl Gushue, who created a soft look to highlight her natural beauty rather than mask it.
They incorporated quotes they both love in the detail shots, and this calligraphy from Post Calligraphy has us entranced.
From the photographer, Whitney Heard: Hailey and Robert are so sweet, but also creative and adventurous! This is something we really wanted to embody in their engagement images. We started at home, in a Toronto apartment, where they felt comfortable being close to one another. Hailey eats a plant-based diet, so we stuck with their typical breakfast of yummy fruit. Robert is a talented artist working with pencil and paper, so we featured drawings and quotes that they both love in the images of their details.
Next, we took to the road, to drive up to a Muskoka cottage. Here the couple took a swim in the serene lake with the sweetest little puppy!
A few words from Hailey: Robert and I met when we were 16 years old at a high school party. We didn’t know each other at the time, but we did have mutual friends. We talked a lot that night, but we didn’t get each other’s information… and a few months went by before we finally reconnected! From there, we’ve kept in touch and spoken nearly every day, and eventually, we began to hang out more and more often and became close friends. Even though it would be easy to say we were together for quite some time prior, it was June 8, 2015 that we made our relationship official.
There are so many things that I love about Robert, so it’s hard to pick one as my favorite… but if I had to pick, it would be the joy he brings in to my life. Robert shows me so much affection and love that I feel silly feeling down about myself. He always makes me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world… It’s not uncommon for him to grab my hand and start to dance, no matter where we are, and it’s moments like those that have the power to affect my mood for the rest of the day.
Robert: My favorite thing about Hailey would have to be her heart – the happiness and care she spreads to everyone around her. She continuously makes me the happiest man and has always empowered me to be best the best person I can be. Falling in love with Hailey grew my understanding of love and of life itself. Being with Hailey makes me look forward to the future since I know we’ll take it on together.
Hailey: Whitney Heard had the talent to capture our true feelings. Love is a feeling that’s very hard to describe, and yet these photos capture it so perfectly. These photos are something we’ll hold on to for life and be able to share with our friends and family. It will be exciting to look back on these amazing photos because they have the power to bring back so many memories that we’ve shared together. We don’t believe these photos would’ve been as perfect and personal as they are if we didn’t have someone as wonderful and talented as Whitney. Whitney created a space where we could be ourselves – she made us feel comfortable enough to express our love in a genuine way, and she captured it beautifully.
