Charming Wine Country Wedding at Kurtz Orchard
Truly, who doesn’t love a good high school sweethearts tale? From prom to their wedding day, Sylvia and Matthew’s wedding story comes straight out of storybooks. Purple Tree Photography, Bloom & Company, and Warehouse 84 conspired to create a dream day for the happy couple, and ended up with a wedding with no shortage of ideas for any garden-loving brides.
From the bride, Sylvia: Matthew and I started our love story as high school sweethearts when he asked me to be his girlfriend at prom. After 10 years together, Matthew planned a surprise trip to New York City and got down on one knee amongst the trees and flowers at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to ask me to be his wife. The location of his proposal inspired me to have a lot of florals and greenery in our wedding with a soft spring colour palette. As such, we chose the most beautiful orchard in Niagara-on-the-Lake to host our big day. From the long trees that lined the driveway to the garden swing in front of the house, we knew this was the perfect quaint location for us.
Our amazing florist created a gorgeous floral arch for our ceremony, with lanterns on the sides and soft petals down the aisle. Being an outdoor ceremony I was quite concerned with how the weather would turn out. It started off calling for rain, but as our ceremony began the sun came out and the birds started chirping, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. Our guests enjoyed a beautiful charcuterie set up during cocktail hour and took part in some lawn games before heading to our reception. Our venue brought in as much green space as possible to our reception, adding trees and ivy walls which looked amazing under the string lighting and chandeliers. The tables were adorned with soft blush and ivory linens, stunning flower arrangements, gold tapestry candles and wooden table numbers handmade by the groom and I.
We shared our first dance as husband and wife, a heartfelt dance with my father, and my husband with his mother, before our delicious meals were served. Just outside of our reception were fire pits for guests to sit by and mingle, and to end the night we headed over the venues’ beautiful bridge with sparklers and a lantern sent off by my new husband and I. A big thank you goes to our amazing photographers who captured every moment for us to cherish forever, and to all of our vendors who made this the most unforgettable day of our lives.
