Charming Rustic Upstate Farm Wedding
When you pair a barn wedding venue with crystal chandeliers and twinkle string lighting, total magic happens. Jen and Chris, a college sweetheart couple, had a darling wedding with a soft color palette photographed by Elena Wolfe and coordinated by C + A Event Planning, who also took on the floral design.
From the bride, Jen: Chris and I are college sweethearts who fell in love on the campus of SUNY Binghamton. When we got engaged, we were two-young and free spirits, who just finished undergraduate and graduate school and were looking to start our professional careers. We waited two years before we decided to get married, and we couldn’t agree more with the saying, “Patience is a virtue and the best things in life are worth waiting for,” – Julia Spira.
I know all brides say this, but our wedding was just perfect. It was filled with happiness, love, charming decor, plenty of freshly cut flowers, chandeliers, and our closest friends and family. When I started to plan our wedding, I knew instantly that I wanted a rustic farm DIY infused wedding with a soft color palette. Our personal style perfectly fit our wedding weekend and day, laid back yet charming, rustic, romantic, and fun! The day before our wedding, all of our family, friends, and our 17 members of our bridal party were there to help set up, arrange furniture, and decorate! (We are still so beyond thankful for everyone who helped and I have to give a huge shout out to my best friend Annelot who made our beautiful wedding day sign and more!)
The Gilbertsville Farmhouse is such a unique venue (we didn’t leave the entire weekend). On the property there is a small farmhouse, a barn, a pond, and 10 beautifully decorated ‘glamping’ tents (fancy camping). My bridesmaids and I sipped champagne and got ready in the farmhouse while the groom and his best mates got ready in the tent area. Our ceremony took place on top of a beautiful hill overlooking the Butternut Valley. Our guests sat in antique church pews adorned with cozy pillows, roses, and eucalyptus. As I walked down the aisle with both of my parents, I saw Chris tearing up, it was so sweet! A short while later, we said our own vows and headed down the aisle as Mr. and Mrs. Hayen!
Our cocktail hour included an acoustic guitarist, corn hole (which my husband and his best man made themselves!), and some wonderful refreshments. By the time dinner arrived we were all sitting underneath the beautifully lit chandeliers watching the sunset. We danced the night away before making our exit down a row of sparklers! Our wedding day went by entirely too fast, but with help from all of our friends, family and extraordinary vendors (who are now extended members of our family), we had a day we will never forget!
Thank you for the beautiful feature! I’m beyond honored and grateful for the publication and so excited for the amazing couple, Jen & Chris! xo
Jen and Chris,
Just curious, where did you find those beautiful church pews?
Thank you!
@KM:
Hi! Our venue owns them and allowed us to use them as we wished. Before we booked this specific venue, I was looking at https://rentpews.com/ — but luckily we found a venue that had everything we wanted! I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Jen
Hi! Where did you get your seating chart wood?
