Free-Spirited Boho Wedding in Malibu Brimming with Pink & Yellow Roses
Pampas grass needs no introduction as it sweeps is off our feet in amazing different ways. With free-spirited vibes, it ebbs and flows with the wind and makes for the perfect backdrop for the pink and yellow roses in Emily & Adam’s wedding. We are loving the cozy boho feel thanks to the perfectly placed Turkish rugs, outdoor hanging lanterns, and the mini dreamcatchers that double as name cards. This bohemian Malibu wedding captured by Krista Mason Photography is just what we needed today. So sit back, relax and enjoy all the boho vibes dripping in roses at this Malibu wedding.
From the bride: The inspiration behind our day was bohemian summer romance. We wanted to create a very relaxed atmosphere with wild flowers of all colors, string-lights and outdoor furniture to compliment the gorgeous outdoors in Malibu. We didn’t want a theme that was overdone or contrived, but rather free-spirited. We also incorporated my Aboriginal heritage with dreamcatchers and feathers.
We wanted an outdoor wedding to fully embrace the amazing Southern California summer. We picked the Birchwood Room at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu because it allowed us to host our wedding outdoors, dine al fresco under the stars and have an indoor/outdoor dance floor. The Birchwood Room provides an excellent raw space to add personal touches.
The decor was very earthy and bohemian with succulents, wild flowers, pampas grass, glass lanters, outdoor chandeliers, string lights and cozy teak furniture rested on Turkish rugs. We complimented the beauty of Malibu’s rustic beauty with all of our decor ideas.
The flowers included pale pink roses, yellow roses and an array of colorful wild flowers, mixed with some succulents and pompas grass. The flowers dictated the design and feel of our reception area. After picking out flowers, we chose the velvet mauve table cloths, rose gold flatware, dark wood chargers and bronze mini lanterns to adorn the table.
We had a neon sign custom made of our names (“Emily + Adam”), we created a signature cocktail menu with our favorite cocktails, and our initials were used to make a huge flower display at our head table. During the ceremony, we tied feathers together to represent my Aboriginal heritage and Adam broke the glass to honour his Jewish heritage. We had a Sugarfina sweet table with guest favors with our names on the little candy boxes. The name cards were mini dreamcatchers.
How gorgeous is this boho Malibu wedding with alllll the pretty roses? Speaking of roses, here is some juicy floral inspiration for your viewing pleasure. You’re welcome.
