Sweet Vermont Barn Wedding
This wedding shot and filmed by Birke Photography captures the mood of a gorgeous Vermont destination wedding perfectly. Love how Joey and Kiki blended their roots at a completely different location while staying true to who they are — Joey is from Kentucky and Kiki is from New Hampshire, and I couldn’t think of a better place than Vermont for a chic New England barn wedding!
From the Bride: when Joey and I got engaged, I was so thrilled, but had no idea where or how to go about planning the wedding. As a designer, I of course had some pretty specific ideas of how I wanted it to look, but choosing a location was very difficult.
Joey was born and raised in Erlanger, KY. I am an army brat, and haven’t lived in any one place for more than three years. However, my extended family is in New Hampshire, where both my parents grew up. For a few months we could not decide, but then a trip to Vermont changed everything. I had researched barns in New England as possible venues, and came up with some great possibilities. Joey and I took a long weekend and visited several locations, but the Inn at Mountain View Farm took our breath away! Suddenly, it made perfect sense. This place had all the country charm of Joey’s native Kentucky, mixed with the casual elegance of my native New England. Also, it reminded me of the place my mother and her 9 siblings were born; on a dairy farm in Quebec that I visited as a child. I couldn’t imagine the wedding being anywhere else.
From the start, I knew that I wanted our wedding to be personal, intimate, and speak to who we are as a couple. I don’t like things to be overcomplicated or thematic at all. I wanted everything to be as authentic as possible, and for the choices I made to unfold naturally. We are pretty laid back- so it didn’t make sense for us to fuss over every detail. The reception was in the large Morgan barn. The old horse stalls sectioned off tables on either side of the wedding party, which was seated in the center of the barn at a long table. Randi Nonni of Silver Toad Floral Designs decorated all the tables. She made my vision come to life by using long moss runners down the center of the tables, topped with flowers in vintage ball jars, glass bottles, and tin watering cans that I bought at antique stores. She was so liberated when I said there was no color palette!

LOvely white balloons! I don’t think I have ever seen white heart balloons before! They are wonderful!
The barn is fantastic too! Really reminds me of the wedding I had featured on here (it was just published in a magazine actually, just blogged about it- although) in terms of set up and style. It’s beautiful, I don’t know how to describe it other than,,, maybe “classic barn?” lol Is that silly? But the twinkle lights and the charming decor, it really IS classic barn and is done well, so Bravo to Kiki and Joey!
I’m jealous- I would have LOVED to have shot a wedding in Vermont when I was there a couple years ago! And this is why! Ha! Congratulations you two! 🙂
