This Backyard Wedding in California is Why We Love Chic Black Details
If you’re thinking of getting married at home then this gorgeous backyard wedding in California will push you over the edge. Jenn Robirds Events completely transformed the family tennis court into an incredible affair with boho vibes and chic black accents. Oh, and then there’s the incredible ceremony setup with a double sided floral arbor that is truly the cherry on top. In shades of blush & sage with a modern pop of black, this wedding has danced its way into our hearts with every incredible photo by Juliana Aragon Photography.
From the planner, Jenn Robirds Events: When Megan and Joey got engaged – there was no doubt in their mind where they should get married: the bride’s family home. She had grown up there and the family had lovingly curated the property over their time living there. Sounds great, right? The only challenge was the couple was in the heart of the Caribbean while Joey finished medical school. So planning a wedding at home instantly became a challenge.
Early on, Megan and her mom brought on our team to assemble a vendor list and execute their vision. After only two trips back to the states for a design meeting and a hair and makeup trial, the couple’s summer soirée came together perfectly. The bride’s style was a cool combination of boho with classical details. The color palette was shades of blush and sage, with a chic and unexpected pop of black in stationery, flatware and the black and white checkered dance floor.
This backyard wedding in California is like something from a dream, right?
The modern square stationery suite created by Little Bird Paper Company featured laser cut tropical leaves as a nod to the incredible palms the lined the property’s backyard. A custom monogram made the perfect detail for the wax seals and also made its appearance on the escort display by Shimmer and Stain.
Upon arrival to the wedding, guests were greeted with champagne adorned with a frozen skewer of berries. The Jewish ceremony in the round situated in the rose garden was intimate and romantic. Arvo Floral Studio created two double sided floral arbors – ensuring that every angle was picture-perfect. The couples exit from the ceremony was even more special as guests were handed dried floral poppers to wish them off.
After the ceremony, guests moved to the pool area for cocktail hour. Megan wanted to have vegan friendly options- so an incredible crudités display was set up by Farm to Table Catering. The couples signature drinks were a spicy jalapeño margarita (Megan’s) and an old fashioned (Joey).
Dinner and dancing was on the tennis court which was completely transformed with custom drapery from It’s All in the Details and lighting for the reception. Bentwood chairs made for chic seating and the bride and groom sat at in peacock chairs at a sweetheart table. Our favorite detail on the table top was the black menus, which we chose to place in a diamond orientation over the square folded blush La Tavola napkin.
At the end of the night the bridal party retired to the yurt village that we assembled on property and spent the following day relaxing by the pool and using the family’s go-cart race track. Enjoy all the details so beautifully captured by Juliana Aragon Photography and see why you need to add black details to your wedding!
