Australian Garden Wedding with a Patterned Wedding Dress
If you’re a couple who prefer the idea of a personal wedding that reflects your true nature and quirky sense of humor, Ali and Sam share their wonderful day which was made special by incorporating fun elements and down-home style. Beautifully captured by Bushturkey Studio, styled by Little Gray Station with florals designed by Elyssium Blooms see how they focused their desire for fun, food and love to create the perfect day to remember.
From the bride, Ali: I was raised in a home that loved the classic romantic movies and for some reason a scene that has stuck in my mind most is the horse races from “My Fair Lady.” I loved the over-the-top decorations, the elegance of white with pops of color, and most of all, the clothing. For our wedding I wanted to have a modern day twist on this. I aspired to have the gorgeous embellishments but also have a relaxed feeling. Right from the start Sam and I always spoke about how we would rather have a beautiful party rather than a formal sit down dinner wedding. We never wanted alternate drop, we just wanted an abundance of food, drink, laughter, and love.
I guess our color scheme kind of started from when I purchased a giant pink flamingo to float in the pool area. The wedding stylist Judi and I just loved it and continued the colours throughout with the tablecloths, cushions, and rugs. The biggest thing that made the colour of the wedding was all the florals. They brought so much colour to an already beautiful garden area. Every bit of furniture was just accentuated with the brightness of the flowers. The DIY projects in the wedding were the wedding favours. My mum and I spent many, many hours making batches of strawberry jam and sticking on labels that said ‘Strawberry Jam from Ali and Sam.’ Jam was not my dad’s or Sam’s thing, so they helped out by brewing some homemade beer and bottling it. They chose to call it “A Brew for You.”
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Stay true to what you want! Along the process you find out that everyone wants to have their say about how you should do it. Just remember in 40 years’ time you want to be able to look back at the photos and be happy with how it turned out, not satisfied you pleased someone else.
