Modern Chic Atlanta Wedding

Modern Chic Atlanta Wedding

One of the perks of marrying a gent who’s one heck of an amazing graphic designer? Not only can he help with the paper goods for your wedding, but he can also craft a killer wedding website. Alanna and Daniel’s Atlanta wedding was perfectly modern with a heaping dose of chic, all captured to sheer perfection by The Photography of Haley Sheffield.

From the bride, Alanna: We wanted something modern, but we aimed to keep it sleek and simple enough that it would maintain a kind of timelessness. And we wanted the reception to be a huge party! Our main colors were black and white, with lots of sparkly and glittery silver accents and a few splashes of color strewn throughout. Daniel is a graphic designer, and he designed the invitations, the menu, and the huge banner with lyrics from our first dance song that was hung behind our table. He also designed our Save The Dates and wedding website using the amazing illustration of us that my unbelievably talented brother-in-law, Darren Shaw of ShawDraw, made.

Our venue didn’t allow sparklers, so we racked our brains for a fun alternative that could create a similar effect, and we were super proud of ourselves for coming up with the tinsel streamer sticks that we made for our exit! The fun little paper fortune cookies that were placed on the tables were handmade by us and my sister. Another one of my sisters made the “Bride” hanger for my dress along with hangers for all of the bridesmaids. She used a wood-burning tool to put my new initials on mine and all of the girls’ initials on theirs.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? If there is any way to simplify an aspect of your wedding, do it, because simpler = less stress. If there’s something that has been a mini nightmare trying to sort out, drop it if you can. If you have room in your budget, hire a videographer. And even if you don’t hire a professional wedding videographer, have someone record the ceremony and key parts of your reception, because having that footage is priceless.
