Old World Wedding Inspiration with Poetic Heirloom Details
Today’s Old World wedding inspiration exudes ethereal romance at every turn. The details are wrought with intention and the heirloom quality of the materials – especially those vintage textiles – encourages us to move slowly through each frame. The butter yellow, dewy grey and eggshell tones that grace these thoughtful design details elicit a delicate and graceful sort of energy we’re craving more of this spring, and designer Your Sweetest Day Events certainly put her best foot forward with this inspiring story. And complementing this soft , poetic mood, Petals with Style created an indoor garden sanctuary that has fresh, tender blooms spilling over every frame. This cheerful story was encapsulated through the photography talents of Pennsylvania-based photographer, Brianna Wilbur and we are wholeheartedly moved.
From the Creative Director, Your Sweetest Day Events: A story can be told and experienced in an infinite number of ways. Perhaps it’s the way the light falls on the bride as she carefully admires the way she feels in the gown of her dreams or the delicate manner through which the poppy rests softly amongst the tapestry of an artfully arranged ceremony backdrop. Or perhaps it’s the mindful curation of personal artifacts gathered to weave pieces of the past into the details of this beautiful milestone of marriage. Or the way in which the couple rests in the notion that today – the start of this next chapter – is perfect in every way simply because of what the day represents. Regardless, it’s this seemingly simple act of gathering – in its many meaningful forms – that makes a story come to life.Inspired by velvety textiles, old world architecture, the story telling facet of fine art, the intimacy of feminine + delicate lace, and the emergence of spring’s most delicate floral varieties, we sought to tell a story of an intimate gathering fit for any location, any venue and sure to inspire couples to dream with their eyes open. The real couple photographed in this editorial complimented the desire to showcase the joy that emulates from allowing oneself to truly get lost in the moments of life’s most joyful offerings.
We’re pretty sure Claire Pettibone is a goddess after seeing so many enchanting vintage-inspired wedding dresses from her through the years. If you love this pearl-embellished bridal gown, you’ll love poring over these lovely bridal styles next!
Petals With Style artfully adorned an antique gate provided by White Glove Rentals with springs most acclaimed floral varieties using colors rich in buttercream, peachy coral, soft blush, and the creamiest amethyst. Transforming the historical Excelsior in the heart of downtown Lancaster into an old world garden escape – highlighting the chameleon character of this charming and uniquely radiant space. The guest table was dressed with a beautifully understated yet impactful linen from La Tavola Linen and then adorned with flatware, glassware, and dishware from White Glove before finishing the gathered tablescape with hand torn blind embossed menus and calligraphy placecards from Ciarra Claire. To complete the vision, Petals With Style added artfully simple centerpieces, an antique floral frog, and flanked the table with a breathtaking installation that tied the look together with effortless precision. The detail work sought to bring together the finer details of this old world inspired gathering.
Featuring Ciarra Claire’s custom invitation suite complete with gold foil and letterpress floral details, we sought to showcase these fresh and modern elements by styling them with artifacts – an antique frame, antique book on the life and nature of butterflies, spectacles and antique spoon from Europe – arranged by Your Sweetest Day Events using collection of curated details from her shop Sweet Nothings. East Coast Trimmings provided a stunning and hand selected collection of unique ribbon textiles to enhance and elevate the details in a way only artisan ribbon can. Enhancing the experience of finding one’s seat and allowing the couple to share elements of their story in the process – like the horseshoe for good luck – a seating chart was styled using a powder blue armoire from White Glove featuring a variety of glass servers with calligraphy by Line and Letter Designs. Petals With Style’s florals highlighted the unique features of this piece while carrying the color story throughout. Flouretta Sweet’s cake further enhanced the experience through movement and the marriage of real and confection artistry.
Our models – a real couple – complimented the desire to showcase the joy that emulates from allowing oneself to truly get lost in the moments of life’s most joyful gatherings. The handsome groom wore a suit provided by Black Tux and the beautiful bride wore not one but two wildly romantic and feminine gowns from Claire Pettibone- both of which were meticulously illustrated by Samantha Spangler Illustrations. The heirloom quality capped veil tied together the butterfly detail in the flatlay styling and highlighted the brides natural beauty brought forth by the styling and beauty work provided by Unfading Beauty by Kristen. The bride also wore shoes provided by the Bella Belle and Claire Pettibone collaboration. Its the gathering of some of life’s most intricate and important elements that together weave a story so unique it can only be told once – a story that captures the couples past, present and future and crafts an unforgettable experience for those who bear witness. The real joy is watching the experience unfold – layer by layer – and knowing the story is just the beginning of all that lies ahead.
