Ashford Acres Inn & Event Barn in Central Kentucky made for the perfect blank slate for this wedding inspiration magic to take place and we cannot stop gushing over every single photo from the The Malicote’s that has us pinning like crazy to our inspiration boards!
From the photographers, The Malicote’s: The idea for this styled shoot was rooted in the need for innovation. We wanted to try concepts, colors, and styles that we haven’t done before. We also wanted to curate a group of vendors that we haven’t had the opportunity to work alongside. This presented a challenge that ultimately allowed each vendor’s work to stand alone, but also work together to create a stunning visual experience.
The origin of this styled shoot came from the 2019 color of the year, Living Coral. By taking the Living Coral concept, we wanted to elevate the ordinary fall wedding vibe that we’ve all seen time and time again. The color theory behind Living Coral combines the psychology of orange and pink. It’s a color of excitement, sincerity, indulgence, and femininity – all things that we wanted to showcase in this particular shoot.
To fully allow the coral to pop, we chose the newly built, Event Barn at Ashford Acres Inn located in Cynthiana, Kentucky as the venue. With a pure, all white aesthetic we knew it would be a dream to shoot in. It would give a nod to the Kentucky tradition and southern history that we hold dear – all while presenting the modern twist we yearn for.
For this shoot several spaces were curated including: a ceremony, lounge space, and two reception tablescapes. The photos were captured by The Malicote’s, using both digital and film which provided an heirloom aesthetic that transcends the times. We aim to capture less stoic, more loving and candid photos with our natural light photography. As a husband and wife team, we shoot at the same time to capture multiple perspectives of the scenes as they unfold to provide a true 360 view.
The floral installations were designed by State and Arrow bringing an organic garden feel to the tablescapes and bouquets. Market on National provided the lifestyle furniture while Bryant’s Rent-All supplied the velvet linens, glassware, flatware, and dinnerware. Coupled, these companies provided stunning scenes to shoot. Caked by Becca created the sophisticated tiered cake which mirrored the ombre veil used in several bridal looks.
The art installation provided by Paige Makes, served as the backdrop of the ceremony as well as a floating piece above a reception tablescape. It offered movement, color and interest to both scenes.
