XOXO, this flirty mid-century Valentine’s Day bash has plentiful party ideas you’ll want to borrow – a dramatic ombre balloon garland, a Cupid’s arrow escort card display, neon signage and a modern color block invitation suite that still has our hearts thump thumping a little too fast. But the buck doesn’t stop there! You’ll probably fall head over heels for the colorful vintage chairs that inspired everything from the color palette to the cake trio. And if not that, it’ll be the adorable haiku station complete with vintage typewriter that’ll get your creative brainwaves flowing. Ready to get into the V-day spirit with us? From Kate of Devon & Pinkett: Caitlin of Clover Event Co. and I came together for the Love is in the Air bridal show, both wanting to utilize a color palette using red and pink. Caitlin was inspired by the incredible red geometric chairs that had just been launched over at Maggpie Rentals, and I was inspired by the red and pink color palette synonymous with Valentine’s Day. We wanted to stand out with a modern, mid century inspired look, infusing the sweetness of Valentine’s day using a palette of bright red, offset with magenta, pinks in all different shades, and white.

We used Maggpie;s modern white Whitman tables paired with the coordinating benches with white chairs from Party Rental LTD. We used pink chargers with white china and a sleek modern glassware setting finished off with gold flatware, all from Party Rental LTD. The Papery of Philly topped off the setting with their gorgeous custom menu, perfectly aligned with the pops of geometric shapes that Caitlin wanted to infuse.

I used a palette of mostly red with pops of pink in a long, lush runner of florals down the center paired with gold candlesticks and pink taper candles with some gold and clear striped candle holders and a pop of red votive cups. The Philadelphia Horticulture Center is the perfect place to have hanging installations, so while I usually do suspended designs with florals, I wanted to have the table be heavier on the floral with a light and airy suspended design, which became the all white balloon garland that I and my team constructed. I directed Eventions Productions to have a gorgeous whimsical drape of white market lighting to hang down below the balloon installation.

In keeping with the theme of lush flowers paired with balloons, I created an ombre balloon installation, starting with white from the top and cascading into pale pink to magenta and ultimately to red. At the bottom of the installation, there was a heavy red floral piece that cascades upwards into the balloons, making it look as though the flowers were growing up and turning to balloons for a whimsical and fun piece to frame Constellation‘s confection set up.

Caitlin created an awesome escort card display, collaborating with The Papery team to create cute “arrows” as an escort card for each guest, and arranging them on a white pegboard in the shape of a heart.

Using the same peg board concept for the lounge, I installed a “wall” to set the stage for the gorgeous red and pink geometric chairs that Caitlin picked from Maggpie, paired with a bright and bold red couch. I finished off the look with some florals flanking the edges of the wall and placing the neon heart sign that Caitlin sourced online dead center, to create a sweet moment for guests in the lounge.

Whipped Bakeshop created a trio of cakes, all coordinating with the gorgeous paper suite that Caitlin and The Papery took inspiration from the Maggpie chairs. Good Good Chocolates created a mix of delectable chocolates in different flavors in their signature perfect round design with bright reds and white.

We used a unique white sequin linen for the cocktail tables, having the space be bright with whites, to truly allow the red to pop off the palette. Shipley Enterprises did a full draping of the space, to cut out all the greens and wood, creating a very white slate to work with. Eventions finished off the rest of the space with more whimsical draped lights throughout the space.
