From the photographer, Jacqueline Benthuysen of Whiskers and Willow: As winter turns to spring, our bride and groom celebrated with joy in a traditional Parisian apartment, complete with a balcony overlooking the cool and warm-toned buildings that showcase the breathtaking skyline. Our intention behind our Parisian elopement editorial design was to feature elements that are representative of both late winter and early spring weddings. Our overall design ambiance was to showcase contemporary, luxe design combined with fine art inspiration to create a black tie elopement with touches of minimalist Parisian romance.
Warm pops of dusty rose and begonia took center stage while hues of deep charcoal and dusty blue played a strong second in order to create a juxtapositional color palette. Since we wanted to feature materials that typically represented warm and cold in their own right, we chose marble and gold as accents.
Our invitation suite and calligraphy details featured both handmade paper and a vellum overlay. A signature crest was included and the main envelope even had a marble liner.. so sleek!
On the sweetheart table, marble candlestick holders sat harmoniously alongside gold-rimmed stemware and candle votives as a means to highlight the seasonality that cusps upon winter leading into spring. A centerpiece of clematis, lisianthus, garden roses, and the dusty miller was the focus of our table design and also stood out in the bride’s bouquet! Long, thin taper candles provided a sleek, contemporary touch while ornate dusty blue and ivory ceramic plates added the texture! As a fun note of modern floral whimsy, a bold pink bloom adorned the bottom of each menu.
Oftentimes, the bride and groom’s individual details can get overlooked. We wanted to showcase two people coming together on their wedding day while still representing their individuality. The bride’s details featured her wedding perfume, pearl earring, and jeweled shoes while the groom’s details featured his watch, boutonniere, and cufflinks. Each had their own hexagonal marble nameplate written in beautiful calligraphy. For their fashion, we chose a satin top with pearl accents on the shoulder with a crisscross back and oversized satin skirt for the bride and an atypical green formal suit and black bowtie for the groom.
The square shaped wedding cake was made to complement our marble texture plus showcase the overall color palette. Sugar adornments were added to match the pearl detail on the bride’s wedding dress and earrings.
Don’t you love it? This pink + lilac elopement certainly touches on #2 of our wedding trend predictions for 2019 – see for yourself!
