Amazement doesn’t even scratch the surface of the emotions that overtook us when we first spotted Sophie and J.D.’s decadent Maryland wedding. Focal points around ever corner, their day is like a good book we simply can’t put down! We know you’ll be hooked when you see the crazy cool escort card display with a nod to their Maryland heritage, but trust us, it won’t take long. Soft pinks and lush blooms like you’ve never seen before, you may want to sit down for this one.
Let’s start with this petal power from Victoria Clausen Floral Events shall, we? You can expect to see cloud-like floral chandeliers with trailing pink ribbons, oversized bouquets, a blossoming monogram backdrop and whimsical vintage getaway car adornments to name a few. Each piece equally show-stopping!
Then we have navy + pale blue paper goods from Cheree Berry Paper with gold accents in the perfect spots. Tiny crab illustrations, a custom monogram and a hand-drawn map on the invitation liner are just a few details that have us in awe.
Natural + femme hair and makeup artistry from Amie Decker Beauty and a few more flowers in their hair *to quote the great Lumineers*.
La Tavola wows as always with their thick, textured linens adorning the cocktail hour and tented reception.

Frost Lighting provides a subtle peachy pink glow to the space that has us oohing and ahhhing. And with entertainment from Elan Artists and Atlanta Showstoppers, we’re sure the close-knit group of guests had a {cracking} time.
From the photographer, Jodi & Kurt Photography: Lovingly referred to as a “Baltimore merger” by their parents, Sophie and J.D.’s celebration encompassed an enthusiasm for their home state of Maryland in a setting familiar to the couple since childhood. Having grown up together as a result of a friendship that began between their fathers in elementary school, some would say the couple had been destined to join hands in matrimony since birth. Eager to curate an unforgettable wedding that not only united the two families but celebrated their love for their home state, Sophie and J.D. partnered with A.Dominick Events to create the perfect September soirée.
The festivities began on September 9th, 2017, with the couple exchanging vows in downtown Baltimore’s St. Ignatius church, where Sophie’s own parents had become Mr. and Mrs. Daly. Departing from the church in J.D.’s father’s antique Daimler, the newlyweds headed for Sophie’s parent’s home, where guests were greeted with Baltimore Southside cocktails. Throughout the welcome reception, family and friends were invited to discover their seat at the superbly imposing wall of Old Bay; an indiscreet nod to the couple’s fondness for Maryland blue crabs.
Custom created cummerbunds adorned with Maryland’s favorite crustacean continued the crab element, proudly worn by J.D. and his groomsmen, which included both couple’s brothers and fathers. Making their way towards the sailcloth tent from Sugarplum Tents for dinner, guests paused to take in the family’s prized 1956 Buick, elaborately adorned with the Bride’s carefully selected flowers of the day. Long time collector of antique vehicles, Sophie’s father gifted the immaculate Buick to J.D. when the couple announced their engagement. A treasured family heirloom, the car became a key feature of the couple’s love and marriage, appearing on both their invitation suite and in Maryland-themed welcome bags received by their out-of-town guests.
The beautiful florals continued throughout dinner, where the couple’s 250 guests dined beneath three grand chandeliers decorated in blooms of soft pink with thoughtful pops of blue. At each place setting, a delightful crab place card clung to Champagne flutes and a monogrammed napkin delicately embroidered with the couple’s crest was the perfect finishing touch.
