Modern Elegance in an English Countryside Wedding

This English countryside wedding inspired by modern elegance is just what the doctor ordered. Bursting with florals at every turn, Cheryl + Jon brought warmth into this lavish fete through personal details like the bride’s amazing obsession with dinosaurs and the groom’s admiration for trading. From the couple: From the word go, we were fairly certain with what we wanted and how we wanted the overall wedding to come across but needed (a lot) of help from very talented suppliers to help us realize the dream. It was our amazing wedding planners, Matthew Oliver Weddings, who really pulled it all together and worked out how to make our dream come true.

The overall theme was modern elegance- all white with hints of blue and grey, and as many flowers as possible. So much so, I think our wonderful florists almost had a heart attack when we mentioned we wanted a floral ceiling installation. But they are absolute geniuses and it looked everything we hoped it would be and more.

As the setting was in beautiful English countryside, we wanted to allow our guests to enjoy that as much as possible and sticking with the modern elegance theme, we asked our marquee designers to create something with glass – glass walls, glass ceilings and a panoramic radial end to enjoy the sunshine and the view to the max. Our excellent marquee interior designers brought the place to life and created a gorgeous, sumptuous white interior with hints of grey. All of our guests were blown away with the result.

The venue was incredible to work with –The whole day was crafted to allow guests to go on a journey – from a romantic and ethereal ceremony in the Orangery, that really spoke for itself, followed by a typical English garden party in the Secret Garden for the reception and then a short walk over to the ultra modern and white marquee for dinner which overlooked Longleat House and the glass bi-fold doors which allowed the outdoors to be enjoyed whilst inside.

We added a few personal touches; Cheryl is a dinosaur nerd. Dinosaurs were featured in and around the marquee, although the most notable was probably the 3m tall Tyrannosaurus vodka ice luge. Jon is a trading whizzkid – our tables were named after notable entrepreneurs/business leaders and we created dollars with his name on to use at the bar.

Finally, we wanted it to be as boozy as possible with incredible food. Our excellent caterers absolutely smashed the brief and nailed the dim sum starter we requested (as an ode to our living in Hong Kong for three years) and created a truly guest focused experience over dinner with table butlers and hoards of staff to cater to every whim – so much so, they nicknamed it The Restaurant!
