A Malibu Wedding with Blue Glass + Marble Details
It’s true that Malibu weddings are chic as they come, but we bet that few can top this one styled by Nicole George Event Planning & Design. Chock full of beautiful details such as blue glassware and marbling motifs, this California event design company created an effortlessly elegant setting to match the bride’s acute sense of style. I mean, take a look at her stunning gown and you will see why!
From Nicole George Event Planning & Design: From my very first meeting with Aly and Jason in San Francisco, I knew that I would bend over backwards to design their wedding, which would be full of personal and sentimental details to reflect who they are and what they love. They not only met in Malibu in college, but it also was where Jason proposed to Aly, and finally, where they decided to get married. I absolutely love weddings that come full circle!
They are free-spirited adventurers and lovers of nature, which was imperative to incorporate into their wedding design. The Oak Room at Calamigos Ranch is full of large windows and vaulted wooden ceilings, nestled into the wooded backdrop of the Malibu hillside. The natural landscape created the perfect rustic backdrop. Their love of raw and organic beauty played a role not only in venue choice, but the design focused on an eclectic mix of earthy beauties such as geodes, crystalline rock, and abalone shells that Aly and Jason had been collecting for years. The bride even wore a raw quartz belt and hairpiece to adore her bridal attire. We kept the décor simple and chic to modernize the space, adding pops of metallics, glass, and cotton runners. If Aly and Jason had a logo, it would be the infinity symbol which has played a role throughout their relationship for years. You can find that, as well as a variety of sentimentally conscious constellations and geometric elements, in the most unique of places such the back of the skateboards that Jason gifted his groomsmen, their cake design, and on their stationery and signage. They chose mid-century modern lounge furniture, wooden tables, indigo glassware, and wooden chargers to give a cozy feel to the venue.
One of my favorite parts of their day was the fog that rolled in during their first dance (after their synchronized rendition of A Sky Full of Stars from LaLa Land, of course!), creating a truly magical and ethereal moment for the two. Aly planned that as a surprise to the groom! Festival-goers themselves, the majority of their song selections (processional, recessional, first dance, etc.) were all by their favorite artists, none of which you would traditionally expect which made it that much more fun and non-traditional! Another one of my favorite moments was the vintage getaway car that they cruised through Malibu after the ceremony and before the reception. There is nothing else that screams SoCal than that.
