DIY New South Wales Wedding
Readers, do we ever have a treat for you today — this wedding from Jonas Peterson is sure to tug a little at your heartstrings. Mathew and Megan wanted to have a wedding that was more dinner party than traditional reception, making sure the aim of their day was for everyone to have a swinging time. How fantastic are the individual cakes in apothecary jars? We also love the idea of providing bug spray for your guests in sweet vintage atomizers!
From the groom, Mathew: We aimed to create a relaxed, intimate event that felt more like an outdoor, summer dinner party than a formal reception. We wanted to have fun, and make sure everyone else did too.
We just picked things we liked, loosely sticking to a neutral colour palette with pops of peach, coral and teal.
We had a lot of DIY elements – but particular favourites were projects our family members helped us with. Megan’s mum sewed the doily garlands that hung above the ceremony; Megan’s brother built signposts out of old fence palings to direct guests around Merribee; and Mat’s parents made a fantastic ‘photobooth’ wall which was a big hit on the night.
Love their version of our DIY photobooth wall!

I LOVE this wedding and all the little details. I think I pinned every picture! =)
This wedding is gorgeous. The subtly feminine colors and accents work very well together. The cake set up is my favorite, they are too cute. And the vintage wallpaper photo booth backing is wonderful. Super girly and simple, but with amazing vintage touches!
the wallpaper is shelley hesse for anthropologie 🙂
This wedding is everything vintage, DIY weddings are all about. The colour palette, especially the wallpaper, is put together so beautifully and I know this will inspire my brides and grooms. But the main thing that shines is the couple themselves, such a happy glow! Love it!
And the Celebrant’s name is …. ?
Jonas is the master. Hi Jacqui!
The details, her dress, and the images are all just gorgeous. Love those cakes and the bug spray bottles.
I agree with Jacqui, the name of the celebrant is…..
Jacqui and Beth – the celebrant’s name is Sheelagh Cameron.
Thanks to everyone else for your lovely comments on our wedding.
Gorgeous! Beautiful colour scheme. I cant believe this is DIY, a lot of effort has clearly gone into this beautiful wedding, puts the rest of us to shame!! 🙂
