Elegant Waterside Wedding in Florida
This Florida wedding by the water is just great all around and we’re so glad that Pat Furey was able to be there to capture every intimate moment and beautiful wedding detail. There are so many aspects of this wedding that jumped out at me the first moment I saw the photos and I’m clinging to all of them! First, hello Florida weddings! What could be better than that warm weather and the unbelievably blue waters? Second, Sarah and AJ’s beach wedding fashion is just giving me so much life today and she chose a stunning Lihi Hod dress. And finally, their reception decor was just perfection. Amazing Wedding Productions made gorgeous arrangements of peonies, delphiniums, lisianthus–and my new favorite flower–proteas covered any table that stood still. So fab!
From the bride, Sarah: We wanted our wedding day to be elegant and modern, but in an effortless way that fit our personalities. AJ and I love to laugh and have a good time. We embraced the idea of sharing an incredibly fun weekend with our families and friends. My everyday decor style could be described as eclectic (messy), so I tried to keep things clean, light and soft. I loved the possibilities behind this gorgeous resort in a beachy, natural setting. Amelia Island is a unique and beautiful place, which we aimed to highlight.
Our wedding day goals were Lax Classic, Effortlessly Elegant, Free-flowing Formal (c/o my MOH, Anna). I wasn’t drawn to a particular theme or color scheme, so we skipped that route. I was attracted to lush, tropical-inspired, flowing greens with shades of ivory, champagne, copper and pale pinks. The bridesmaids dresses brought in a more vibrant shade (I adore Reformation!) to amp things up. And tuxes for the guys. My mom was essential in helping to execute our “vision.” She found inspiration for our table runners, sourcing and cutting the fabric herself.
If you know, what flowers were used for your bouquet and/or floral arrangements? My bouquet was designed with a loose hand tied look in mind. Peonies, white delphinium, white football mums, white astilbe, Juliet peach garden roses, white lisianthus and pink ice protea. We incorporated lots of greenery to bring a loose and natural feel to the bouquet – Italian ruscus, nagi and sword fern. Our flower girl, Madelyn, had her own floral wand with copper ribbon woven in.
Our floral arrangements incorporated the same flowers and greenery – peonies, pink ice protea, king white protea, Juliet garden roses, white delphinium, white football mums, white lisianthus, white astilbe, blush spray roses and champagne roses. They were designed in copper-footed vases. Spaced with flowing greenery.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Remember the end goal (marrying the love of your life) when it gets stressful. Coming from someone who despises planning. Focus on the things you will notice, forget the rest – this is different for everyone. There is no way to express the level of joy our wedding day brought us. It was a team effort.
Be sure to watch the wedding film from Take One Productions:
Wedding Music:
Choosing music was one of our favorite parts of planning. Music was essential in helping us express our feelings on the day, and really set the mood for our wedding and party!
Bridal Processional: “The Wind,” Cat Stevens
Recessional: “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher,” Jackie Wilson
First Dance: “Lovin’ You, Baby,” Charles Bradley and Menahan Street Band
Father/Daughter Dance: “Daughter,” Loudon Wainwright III
ehem, and the Officiant was Pastor Bob from First Coast Ceremonies – thank you!
