Intimate Wisconsin Cornfield Wedding

How dreamy is the idea of having your wedding reception in the middle of a cornfield? The wedding, expertly shot by m three studio, was a true family affair — the couple was married by the bride’s father, and the reception held on family property. And the getaway car? An icy blue vintage Corvette.

From the photographer, Molly of m three studio: Abby and Greg live right in the heart of downtown Chicago, amongst all the hustle and bustle of city life. But their hearts are vintage and down-home, and so it was Abby’s family’s farm in Wisconsin that proved the location best suited to their true selves. The wood veneer wedding invitation promised a chic but comfortable celebration.

The couple was married at Abby’s father’s quaint small-town church. Being a pastor himself, he officiated half of the ceremony himself. Abby wore her grandmother’s diamond necklace and she and her mother had made a new headpiece out of part of her grandmother’s wedding ensemble. Greg carried his deceased father’s ring in his jacket’s heart pocket. Their closest friends and family made up the wedding party, including a gaggle of nieces and nephews serving as flower girls and ring bearers. The couple hand-made their programs using coordinating fabric to their table linens.

The reception was held in a tent on the edge of the bride’s family’s cornfield, with cocktails on the patio. Drinks were served in mason jars with striped straws. The scrapbook style guestbook invited guests to leave a note for the couple in their own little envelope. hand-calligraphed placecards were pinned along a miniature clothesline. Guests were given home-made strawberry jam as a favor. Abby and her mother hand-sewed the ruffled and vibrant table linens. Greg and Abby pulled the vintage oil lamps and food boxes for floral arrangements from their own personal collection. Images of their beloved dog were used for the table numbers. Hay bales were set up in a semi-circle for gourmet ‘smores later in the evening, enjoyed along with the tunes of a bluegrass band.
