Melbourne Mid-Century Wedding
Shainne and Tina’s mid-century inspired wedding shot by Stewart Leishman is the cure for a case of the Mondays. Tina designed and created her own wedding dress pattern inspired by the 1950s. Shainne, the groom, is also right on par in the style department. They used their venue, the Boyd Baker House near Melbourne, as their inspiration for their wedding vision. I will let Tina take it from here:
From Tina: We envisaged a small, casual wedding inspired by the natural surroundings, architecture and mid century style of our venue, the Boyd Baker House.
The architecture and bush setting of the venue are so beautiful and the interior has been so carefully decorated in mid-century style that we felt we didn’t want to detract from this and so kept the decoration to minimum. Having said that however we did take great care in putting together the table settings and made sure all details fit carefully with the vintage style of the surrounds. We collected vintage tablecloths, retro plates, swan and crystal vases and cute bride and groom ornaments to decorate each table. We also collected picture frames into which we added photos of some of our favourite couples; George and Mildred, Morrissey and Marr, Serge Gainsbourgh and Jane Birkin, Edie Segwick and Andy Warhol, Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina amongst others. We really wanted to have a special photo booth and so came up with the idea of the Paper Moon which Shainne’s sister organized to have made for us.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now?
A wedding is such a collaborative event, and you will need to have like minded people on board to make it all happen. We were lucky enough to have surrounded ourselves with wonderful people who shared our vision for the day.
Wedding Songs:
Processional: Clare de Lune, Debussy
Signing of the Register: Come On Let’s Go, Broadcast
Recessional: Come Together, Primal Scream
First Dance: Moon River, Morrissey
Wedding Vendors (Melbourne, Australia):
Ceremony and reception venue: Boyd Baker House, outside of Melbourne / Florist: In Full Bloom in South Melbourne created the bridal bouquet, the boutonnieres and corsages for the mother of the bride and mother of the groom. The other floral arrangements were DIY / Photographer: Stewart Leishman / Wedding Dress, Veil, Shoes and other accessories: the bride designed, made the pattern and fit the toiles for my wedding dress. The actual gown was then made by a private dressmaker. I had the shoes covered and made the little bows to go on the front / Hair and make up: Candice de Ville / Groom’s suit: suit and shirt from Jack London, shoes Giorgio Armani, vintage knitted tie / Caterer: Hudsons Famous / Wedding Cake: One Sweet Girl / Wedding invitations: designed, printed, sewed and tied their own wedding invitations together
