Pieris Japonica + Art Nouveau Ideas

Honey of a Thousand Flowers is showcasing pieris japonica, which may be my favorite flower! Its soft shape in subdued hues compliment nearly any bouquet, and its dreamy and romantic look left us swooning over an Art Nouveau inspired wedding in blush pink, aqua and gold. Thank you Heather Nan for the lovely images!

From Sarah: Pieris have my heart. The blooms resemble that of lily of the valley, they are small bell shapes. They are romantic, yet structured and geometric-a perfect balance if you ask me. I imagine them in the hair or arms of a maiden in a Mucha paintings. They would look gorgeous in a glamorous art deco or Art Nouveau inspired wedding. They are gorgeous in both bouquets and centerpieces because the blooms cascade down from the main stem. Often times they have a pink tint on the bloom.

They are in season in the spring, February-April and also in September-October.

I imagine them being used in a Art Deco or Art Nouveau inspired wedding. It would be a glamorous affair held in a building who’s architecture was inspired by the Deco movement. A color palette incorporating mostly neutrals with gold, copper, and olive for accents. Silk dresses and headbands for the bridesmaids and, a jeweled flapper inspired dress for the bride. Structured and geometric designs for the invitations and maybe cake decoration would be a great juxtaposition to the flowing dresses and cascading Pieris flowers.
