Remember this post about paper cranes as wedding ceremony backdrops from almost a year ago? Well, today we have a sweet real wedding to share with you that also incorporated paper cranes in their wedding! It was not only shot by Jordan of Landon Jacob’s Productions, but Jordan also helped designed and arrange the flowers for the wedding of her friend, Lindsey. This wedding was truly a handmade fete and many of their friends helped them stay under budget.

From the bride: I feel like I was the most laid back bride and really didn’t have too much of an opinion when it came to envisioning a style for my wedding – I just wanted to get married! We knew we wanted everything to be a reflection of our love for Jesus and just wanted something really fun! Something that people could just say “wow that is very “Lindsey and Tyler.” Both of us wanted a simple and vintage type feel. With the help of our photographers, Jordan and Landon Thompson of Landon Jacob Productions and my wedding director (and good friend) Reilly Blackwelder, it all just came together! A great do it yourself wedding on a budget that truly describes us as a couple.

The theme began with paper cranes. We knew we wanted lots of fun paper to make cranes, banners, etc. Everything was going to be DIY; that way it would describe us and we could save some money. Then it was decided that everyone in the bridal party should just wear what they want within our navy blue and yellow accented color scheme. Why not wear something that represents your personality? The girls got to pick out their own dresses and the guys could wear bow ties, suspenders, or a vest. Nothing matched and that I think is what made everything so fun. So many of our other decorations me and Jordan found at thrift stores. Nothing was bought at full price. Beautiful chaos. I think it definitely caught some people off guard because of how non-traditional it was, but gosh it was so much more fun and totally did describe us! We are so blessed to have so many talented friends at our church who love us and wanted to help us with our wedding. Such a blessing.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Wedding planning can be so stressful! I was all about trying to avoid that stress. Honestly my advice would be for brides to stay away from people pleasing. Planning your wedding so easily becomes about what everyone else will think. There seems to be such pressure to have a “cool wedding” these days. Brides: Just have fun! Let your wedding reflect you and don’t worry about what other people will think! It will rob you of joy. Have fun with your planning, but don’t put all of your time and energy into that one day because it honestly comes and goes. Just enjoy that fun time and don’t let everything stress you out.
