Western Florida Beach Wedding

We were so excited to see this wedding from Autumn of Hello Miss Lovely fall into our inbox. A good beach wedding is always welcome, and the details jam-packed into this one are just icing on the cake. Plus, I’m kind of in love with the fact that Loren and Destin played The Proclaimers’ “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” as their recessional!

From the bride, Loren: Destin and I knew exactly what we wanted for our destination wedding- a fun, adventurous, multi-day celebration! We wanted it to be creative, personal, romantic, and laid-back. Our idea was to have it small enough to be intimate but just big enough to have our closest family and friends there with us. We arrived in Florida six days before the wedding and our family and friends started arriving throughout the week. We began the wedding festivities with a beachside welcome bonfire and the night before our wedding we had a rehearsal dinner fiesta, then drinks to follow at a favorite local bar. For our venue we rented out the Triple Crown, which is a beach house that accommodated all of the wedding party and had beach access for the ceremony. The Lawn, where the cocktail hour and reception took place, was located between the beach and the house, so all of the wedding day events were within footsteps of each other.

I’m an Interior Designer and my husband, Destin, is a graphic designer so we both share a love for design. We both planned and designed our wedding together and our florist really helped our overall style & vibe come to life! Destin and I printed our wedding invitations and all other coordinating wedding stationary that went along with it. We painted and created wood block place cards for each guest and table numbers for each table. We also designed personal koozie favors for our guests that had Destin’s hand drawn sketches of us on them! The ceremony and reception were amazing! The weather was perfect and the sunset was gorgeous. The fun and unexpected hundreds of dragonflies flying over us during the reception added a whimsical, magical feel. We enjoyed delicious food, drinks, good company, and hours of dancing under the ceiling of café lights that hung over the lawn and the stars that shined above.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Do what is YOU and have it reflect you and yours style and don’t worry about if it fits “tradition” or not! We wanted someone who knew us well and was a part of us to be the one who married us, so we had Destin’s Uncle lead our ceremony. Because I have a lot of Native American family history on my side, it has become a unique tradition for my family that the Cherokee Wedding Prayer be said during a wedding ceremony. So, my grandfather, Otis, was there to read it aloud during ours. Having the people who are closest to us be a part of the ceremony made it even the more special!

From the photographer, Autumn of Hello Miss Lovely: Loren and Destin got married in Seagrove, FL at “The Lawn” by Pearly White Properties. The ceremony took place on the beach a few feet away from the reception. The day was absolutely beautiful along with the two gems saying “I Do”. Loren is quite the DIY bride! She made the card holders, the table numbers, the bow-tie napkins, and the lovely ribbon chairs! Destin, a graphic designer, made their wedding stationary (did you see those amazing invites?!) and the koozies with the sketched portraits of themselves! They had a geometric-romantic wedding to the “T”. It was intimate, fun, romantic, yet laid-back. My most favorite part about the entire thing is the fact Loren and Destin trusted me completely to capture their story the way I see it. They gave me free reigns as an artist and it truly was an inspiration.

  • We are so excited and honored to see our wedding featured on Ruffled! It is like reliving the happy day all over again! Hello Miss Lovely did such an amazing job and we could not have asked for anyone better to capture the day! 🙂

    • Where is the alter from?! We are getting married in Santa Rosa in August and I love y’all’s alter!!

      • Thank you Emily! It’s from Fishers Flowers in Santa Rosa! 🙂

      • Hi Karen!

Thank you so much! My baby’s breath crown was made by our florist, Fishers Flowers, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. They did an amazing job!

  • Oh wow. Every detail in this wedding is crazy gorgeous, and such beautiful photos. It’s the sky in the first one that really takes my breath away. So perfect.

  • I love everything about your wedding photos! I just got engaged and the thought of a florida destination wedding sounds perfect. How did you know where to start. I am searching for venues but keep finding hotels instead of small intimate locations. Any advice on how you planned this would be awesome…it’s overwhelming!

    • Hi Jessa! Thank you so much! Congratulations on your engagement! We also wanted an intimate setting so we chose to rent a beach house! The house we decided on had a large lawn where we hosted our reception following the ceremony on the beach. I began first by choosing our location, in this case our ceremony venue was the beach and the reception venue was the house/lawn. Because we went this route instead of a hotel package, we had to be the ones to figure out our photographer, caterer, florist, etc. We were able to choose exactly what we wanted this way! We planned everything ourselves but we did hire a day of coordinator who helped the wedding day go over smoothly!

  • Hi Loren,

Beautiful wedding! I originally wanted to leave the country for a destination wedding but I think this may be our next option. Most of my family is in the north east. How early did you send out save the dates? Where did most of your guests stay…in near by houses or a hotel?

    Love the lawn + lights.

    • Hi Krys! Thank you 🙂 We got married in September and I believe we sent out our save the dates in April, so 5 months prior. There weren’t many hotels close by, so most of our guests stayed in houses or condos near by! This allowed everyone to be able to walk to all of the wedding festivities.

  • Hi Loren, I would love to chat with you about your wedding! I have been looking at the Tipple Crown property and I thought it looked like the perfect venue. After seeing your photos, I can definitely agree that it is! Do you mind if I ask what your budget was for the wedding?

      • Hi Loren! I was wondering the same thing as Julie. Your wedding looked gorgeous and is exactly what I was envisioning for a beach wedding. However, I am from Chicago and wondering if this is going to be a pain to have to rent everything individually, especially since I am unfamiliar with the area, and if it was going to be more expensive to do it this way?

  • I am in love with this post and this couple! After seeing this I immediately contacted the property to see if they would be available for my wedding date! Their style is exactly what I am looking for and I was wondering what the total cost of their wedding was?

  • Loren,
This is to the T exactly what I want for my wedding. I have been searching pinterest/internet for 3 years (long engagement I know) trying to find a taste that fit my every desire. I saw the pictures and fell in love, your pics put my vision to life! The only thing missing is a bon fire on the beach lol Anyhow, can you tell me the designer and style number of your dress. I saw the website listed but couldn’t locate it, Thank you so much!

    • Hi Christina,

Thank you so much! I’m glad you found some inspiration! We actually had a beach bonfire a couple of nights prior to the wedding to welcome our guests. There are several local bonfire companies that will come and set up the bonfire for you. The designer of my dress is Allure Bridals and it is dress #8800. It was my dream dress that I had in mind and I was so lucky to find it. Congrats on getting married! 🙂

  • At the wedding day with the perfect dress there must be faultless hair styling to give better than normal look to the personality of the life partner.

  • Your wedding is beautiful!!!

Those lights are exactly what I want for my wedding!! I was wondering, was their a vendor that installed those lights in for you or it came with the venue? If vendor, would you be willing to share the name? Thank you so much.

    – Summer

  • I was wondering what company you used to get the Driftwood arch from its beautiful.

  • Hi Summer! The lights were rented and installed by Fishers Flowers in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

  • Hi Jess!

The driftwood arch was rented and installed by Fishers Flowers in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida!

  • Hi Loren!

You are lovely and the wedding looks dreamy!
You inspired me on doing a beach wedding as well! I just got engaged and Im already visualizing our wedding day in Pompano Beach, South Florida. (My future husband owns a condo in Sabbia Beach Resort)
If thats okay with you, i may steal some of your ideas!

    Love,
    Kirsten

  • Hi Kirsten! Thank you so much! Congratulations to you and your fiancé! How exciting! That is so perfect that he owns a condo. I would highly suggest a beach wedding. I still look back and am so happy we had our wedding on the beach! Best of luck to you on your wedding planning!
