Handcrafted Sparkle Wedding in Savannah

DIY Weddings

We absolutely love seeing weddings where there’s so much collaboration between the bride, stylist, and floral designer — and this is just one of those weddings. Daniela and Pedro worked together carrying out endless DIY projects, Ivory & Beau coordinated everything to perfection, and the floral arrangements from Urban Poppy are totally enviable! Thank you Izzy Hudgins Photography for capturing this wedding day so beautifully.

From the bride, Daniela: We wanted our guests and everyone that looks at our wedding photos to think it was a styled photo shoot. We wanted it to feel elegant but not over the top, with fun, whimsical and vintage retro details. Every detail and the location of every accessory was carefully thought of. I envisioned a fairy tale wedding, and the Savannah scenery was the perfect spot for it and the landscapes lent themselves for that; with just the right amount of sparkle, greenery, florals and retro vintage details that reminded me of my grandmothers house as I was growing up.

Flower recipe: Bouquet was an oblong, organic posey style with exposed stems in blush, nude, ivory, pale pink spray roses with seeded eucalyptus, white ranunculus, juliette garden roses, pale pink astilbe, white chocolate roses, quicksand roses, champagne spray roses, blush garden roses.

We used a lot of pastel colors. Specially blush or light pink with ivory and golds. we made and printed at home the Burlap Save the Dates. Designed the wedding invitations and had them printed professionally. We designed and made the groomsmen wood boutonnieres (laser cut by Eric from Creative-laser in Savannah). The groom made the lit up DJ booth and the linen-less wood cocktail tables, and the large Marquee letters in the cake display. Made ribbon wands, vintage napkin holders and signage for ceremony; We had the crochet overlays for the cocktail hour tables custom made. We made the hanging light orbs in reception, photo booth backdrop, all selfie station and welcome table signage, guestbook, engagement photo display on a re-purposed fireplace mantel. All hand lettered signs in ceremony, seating chart, meal cards, table name signage. We refinished and re purposed all crates and wooden spools used in the cake display. The groom and I had 13 months to collect all accessories used through out, vases, bottles, vintage pieces, candle holders, the cake and dessert stands.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My advice is to not stress or overthink every detail. Have wedding coordinators or planners at least for the Day Of. At the end it will all turn out just fine. Also take a moment for yourself. The whole process can become pretty stressful at one point. Try not to let it get to you. The day of or the day before (if you have time), take a break relax on a spa day or something. I wish I had done it. I really needed it and did not have time for it. The day of the wedding take a moment to sit back, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment as the wedding goes by in a blink of an eye.

DIY Share a Coke Bottle Centerpieces + HUGE Giveaway!

DIY Projects

Photos by:

Emily Chidester

I’ll admit, I’m totally guilty of picking through coolers and trying to find a Share a Coke bottle with my name on it. upped the ante by increasing the variety of names by 4x + letting you customize the iconic glass bottle on their site with any name. To celebrate, we’ve got a humongous giveaway you can enter to win. The giveaway package includes two round-trip flights on United Airlines to anywhere in the continental U.S., Caribbean, Mexico, Central America or Hawaii plus a $500 Visa gift card, a total of a $1700 value. Read on for how to enter at the bottom of this post!

Today’s DIY takes the idea of personalized Cokes and puts a wedding twist on them, using the bottles as centerpieces for a sweetheart table at the reception — so cute!

For this project, you will need:
-Mod Podge
-empty container
-X-acto knife
-foam core
-fine grain glitter
-paint brush
-printer
-masking tape
-healing gel mat or cardboard

Instructions:
1. Print an ampersand in the desired font, to about 5″ in height on normal computer print paper.

2. Tape printed ampersand with masking tape flat to foam core.

3. Place foam core on a healing gel mat or a piece of cardboard, to protect the surface you’re cutting on.

4. Use x-acto knife to cut around ampersand – when cutting foam core, don’t try to cut through the first time you slice into it, but trace the ampersand once lightly and return to cut fully through.

5. Mix 1 part glitter to 1 part mod podge in an empty container. Brush mixture onto ampersand, covering the top and sides. Then sprinkle with more glitter. Set aside to dry. Once dry return and do the other side of ampersand.

6. Using the same mod podge mixture, brush mixture on bottom half of a Share a Coke bottle. Cover the bottle fully around, and gently brush along edge of label. Sprinkle more glitter over mixture. After setting aside to dry, gently tap bottle to shake off and remove excess glitter. If any glitter dust sticks to the label or other areas of the bottle, this can simply be wiped off with a paper towel.

Tongue in Cheek Whimsical Australian Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

Lara Hotz

You might want to put aside some time for today’s wedding — it’s a bit of a doozie in the best way ever. Lara Hotz and Merci Bouquet worked with Lex and Dave to make their vision of a colorful massive party come to life, and every bit of the whimsical result is nothing short of perfection.

From the bride, Lex: The ceremony was emotional and happy. The reception was fun and a massive party, which is exactly what we always wanted. From the beginning we were calling it the after party. It was all really colourful, playful and a bit tongue and cheek — reference the tag lines attached to our flower vases at the reception).

The hens party was a crafternoon. Thanks to the help of some lovely ladies we boshed out; the aisle hearts, bonbonnierie, bunting, garlands, vases (and cheeky pick up tags). In our spare time we made confetti bags, table decor, “guest book” polaroid washing line, chair tags, winners ribbons for the MOB, GOB, FOB, MOB. My yia yia made spinach pies and my dad made rice pudding for the reception. Dave’s brother Isaac, the best man, took on the huge task of brewing 70 craft beers, which we branded ‘The Best Man Brew’. Dave selected and ordered all of the wine. DIY and BYO — how’s that for hands on!

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Be yourselves, we had so many people telling us that it was the best wedding they had been too because everything was so perfect for us. If you try to please everyone you will end up pleasing no one. We had lamingtons as our wedding cake, peanut m&m’s as our sweet almonds and hired our favourite chef to make his famous Rueben sandwiches. We chose these things all because we love them… and they were delicious and the day was perfect because of it. One more thing for the bride, I wish I looked up at Dave when coming up the aisle. It sounds obvious but on the day when you’re so excited and there are all these people you haven’t seen for a while you look at them. No one reminds you to look up and straight ahead at your partner.

Bright Purple and Pink Wedding in New Jersey

Blue Label, Elegant Weddings

Purple and pink make for some seriously eye-catching wedding design, and when you add in a bit of gold? Talk about fairytale perfection. From the bride, Kelly: Although we had a large guest list (210 confirmed guests) we still wanted the wedding to feel very intimate and personal. We wanted people to feel that every single detail had a personal touch. The guest comments about decor/over feeling was that it ‘was so you (two)!’ The wedding very much reflected our personal aesthetic and personalities. We wanted the style of our wedding to feel whimsical with a romantic/rich color scheme

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to blaze your own trail or break tradition. Doing what you both love and what makes you happy will make your wedding feel unique and you! This will make your wedding memorable for your guests as well. When deciding who would officiate our wedding, we really struggled. Do we get married by our family priest as all of our previous family members had? Do we have a professional officiant? The it became glaringly clear; we wanted the brides Aunt Margy to marry us. This Aunt has a very special relationship with the couple both individually and as a couple. Although this decision was not what was expected, it was the thing that made our wedding so ‘us’ and extremely personal.

Winter Garden Wedding in Toronto

Garden Weddings

Photos by:

Olive Photography

The more we see amaranthus used in wedding decor, the quicker it becomes a favorite of ours. Coriander Girl masterfully draped the beautiful bloom for a hanging chandelier over the reception tables in Niveen and Rob’s winter garden wedding in Toronto, beautifully captured by Olive Photography. Get ready for a big dose of pretty!

winter garden wedding in Toronto - photo by Olive Photography http://ruffledblog.com/winter-garden-wedding-in-toronto

From the bride, Niveen: We were actually hoping for a summer outdoor/garden wedding. But, life happened and we ended up buying a house. My family is traditional and preferred that I move in after we are married. So we planned the wedding in 6 months because we’d rather be together than wait for the summer sun! Luckily, it’s a less busy time and it was possible for us to find some fantastic artists, venue, and vendors on such short notice.

Other than taking photos in the cold, it was perfect! And I wouldn’t change the time even if I had the chance to. In the end I got the garden wedding I wanted, thanks to our brilliant Florist at Coriander Girl. We knew we wanted something lush and romantic and more colorful than a typical white winter wedding and she made it happen. We had all the lovely vintage touches through the fantastic Krista Jane and the awesomeness that is Archeo.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean that it has to lack life or color! We ran in the opposite direction of silver and white, and went with gold, navy and deep pink and purple jewel tones. Another tip, no matter what your budget is, hire a day of coordinator! I didn’t want to think of a thing during that day besides having the time of my life. Last one, use your gut/instincts, I met with a few photographers, and florists, and something just clicked with who we ended up with. Everything felt natural, and honestly, and I couldn’t have met greater and more talented people!

From the photographer, Anastasia of Olive Photography: Niveen and Rob had a memorable reception with a jaw-dropping floral arrangement above their head table (along with seriously stunning florals throughout), super cool sweet table with chocolate-dipped oreos (their favourite cookie), baklava (a nod to Niveen’s culture) and doughnuts, and surprise entertainment in the form of dancers who impressively balanced candelabras on their heads! They also had a ‘love lock’ engraved with their initials and wedding date to secure to a wall amongst those of other lovebirds near their venue that they can visit and smile at for years to come. Niveen sported a super cute stole to keep her warm (can you believe it’s H&M?), an eye-catching headpiece, and blue velvet shoes as her ‘something blue’. Rob had a nifty and totally dapper tie clip along with a custom-tailored suit.

A Brit & A Blonde

Make sure you’re cozy in your seat, because today’s wedding from A Brit & A Blonde, Darling & Daisy, and Blush And Bloom is a doozy. Aleksandra and Dave’s wedding in Toronto was full of the most incredible touches, including a darling sweetheart table with a sequin backdrop, a cake table with endless treats, and a ceremony setup I could stare at for days on end.

From the photographers, A Brit & A Blonde: There’s nothing more exciting for a wedding team than a couple who dreams of an explosion of creativity for their big day. Every single part of this wedding was rad, stunning and perfect. There were so many details that are just to lovely for words. The couple brought together some of the best Toronto wedding vendors to create what the bride Aleks called her “Dream Team”. Mercedes from Darling & Daisy was the creative director pulling together a most gorgetastic and whimsical look and feel.

Aleksandra works in a library and is passionate about reading, which inspired such details as the book page backdrop and library card “seating chart.” Beet & Path designed personalized library cards which include the guests name, meal choice, and an itinerary on the flip side. Each guest retrieved his or hers in a vintage library card box. The room was adorned by candle light, lace, books and flowers. Blush and Bloom created, garlands, bouquets and an abundance of centerpieces featuring pink peonies, mums, a variety of roses, and greenery arranged with a lush yet organic flair. The vintage furniture added character and a sense of family comfort to the wedding.

A focal point of design was the ladder archway under which the vows took place, later transformed into an elaborate sweet display on the dance floor. The Wedding cake Shoppe baked the most delicious variety of cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes, tarts and everything your sweet tooth could possibly crave. Darling and Daisy hand made a “Sweet Love” marquee sign, labels for each treat and styled the display incorporating a sequins table cloth, bar cart, 2 vintage desks and of course – tons of beautiful foliage. We have literally never seen so many flowers – the reception set up was gorgeous and felt like a garden.

From the bride, Aleksandra: We wanted the day to be about us and our unique relationship; and we wanted to share that with our closest family and friends. We are very untraditional, we planned our wedding, then told our family and friends, and then did the “formal proposal” We instantly decided that we would not do anything that we didn’t feel comfortable with, especially the traditional aspects of weddings that didn’t have meaning to us. We decided that we would spend as much time as possible together, we woke up together, had breakfast together with family, and we saw each other as soon as we were ready. We walked down the aisle together too. We wanted to the whole day to be a reflection of us and our style; fun, casual and pretty, basically we wanted to host a great party.

Smitten with Sparkle Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Gold glitter and pink — talk about a match made in wedding heaven. That color palette plus an elegant twist were the foundation for today’s styled shoot from Debbie Lourens Photography and Paramithi: {Coordination, Flowers & Décor}, which brings together glamour and sophistication with just enough hints of fun and flirtatiousness. Make sure you don’t miss the gorgeous array of wedding cakes!

Smitten with Sparkle Wedding Inspiration - photo by Debbie Lourens Photography http://ruffledblog.com/smitten-with-sparkle-wedding-inspiration

From the event designers, Paramithi: {Coordination, Flowers & Décor}: Think one of a kind luxury, glamour, dreamy, sophisticated, bursts of confetti and glitter with many chic elements. It’s the look of ‘The Great Gatsby’ and Old Hollywood’s elegant and stylish details making a statement that serves as inspiration for this modern Smitten with Sparkle shoot. Think white-gloved waiters and big band dancing, crystal candlesticks and gold-rimmed china. The return to romance ushers in a new love for the formality of an earlier time.

Handcrafted Urban Wedding in Atlanta

DIY Weddings

If glitz and glam is up your alley, you’ll love today’s wedding from Our Labor of Love by Heidi and Mary Mcleod for Amy Osaba. The whole day is packed with glitter, right down to the bridesmaid dress hangers! Bride Juliana put her personal touch on nearly every single aspect of the day, and there are so many incredible ideas here, so let’s jump in!

handcrafted urban wedding in Atlanta - photo by Our Labor of Love by Heidi http://ruffledblog.com/handcrafted-urban-wedding-in-atlanta

From the bride, Juliana: Almost every single item was hand painted by myself, my mother-in-law, and a close friend. I’m especially partial to our hand-drawn + illustrated SEVEN page program books that my friend designed and we had them printed and assembled them into little booklets. But there are so many details that were hand done and I think that really takes it over the top.

Black and Gold New Year’s Eve Wedding

If ever there’s a time for an abundance of gold and glitter, it’s New Year’s Eve. A team of all-star vendors in Portland including Hazelwood Photo, J29 Events, and Swoon Floral Design recently styled a shoot that’s sure to inspire and lead us into the new year with plenty of excitement.

Black and Gold New Year's Eve Wedding - photo by Hazelwood Photo http://ruffledblog.com/black-and-gold-new-years-eve-wedding

From the planner, Nicole of J29 Events: When I think about New Years Eve, I think about the excitement, and the romance in the air. We say goodbye to what last year held, and excitedly look forward to the surprises of what lie ahead in the new year. The ambiance is very reminiscent of the eve of a wedding. While day-dreaming about that “feeling” I envisioned a bride and a groom… and the bride wore a black wedding dress.

Our goal, to inspire non-traditional couples by presenting a wedding that is both classic and elegant, while straying from the beaten path. Nothing shines as bright as a couple in-love, who is ready to marry their soul mate.

If ever there was a dress to build a wedding theme around, it’s got to be this gold and ivory winner from BHLDN. Kristin and Scott dreamt of a laid-back atmosphere on their big day, and the effortless blend of gold glitter and wood elements helped them realize that dream. Thanks to With Love & Embers and Monica’s Floral Design for your work on this one!

From the bride, Kristin: I really think my BHLDN dress set the tone of our wedding. Once I got that dress, everything else just came together! We wanted the wedding to feel like us – fun, but not over the top. And definitely not cookie-cutter. We wanted a laid-back atmosphere. We spent a lot of time and attention to every detail; we were thrilled with how everything turned out.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Put your foot down where needed. If you have a vision for your day of how it should feel or look- do it!! People can be quick to question your plans or shoot them down. Don’t let them! Also, if you are planning a DIY wedding, get all of your projects done way in advance. I thought I started really early with everything but still found myself stressed two weeks before! Lastly, don’t sweat the small stuff. Things will go wrong BUT everything will come together perfectly.

Glittery Webb Barn Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

Michelle Gardella

What better way to kick off the week than with a glittery and whimsical wedding at Webb Barn? We couldn’t contain our glee when we saw this wedding from Michelle Gardella, Petal Floral Design, and Heidi Chronister and Jen Strunk, which is packed to the gills with design inspiration and creative ideas for everyone.

From the bride, Erin: My husband and I are wedding photographers so we attend a lot of weddings every year. We knew when we started planning our own wedding that we didn’t want it to be like every one that we go to and see on the internet, and we didn’t want to do anything because we felt like it was something we HAD to do. We wanted our day to be fun, original, comfortable, and above all personal. We wanted our guests to walk in, feel at home and see both of us in all of our details and know that everything we brought in was thought out and had a reason for being there. I have a degree in art so the watercolor was very important to me, and Peter is a cyclist (he rode his bicycle across the country last summer!) so we tried to incorporate that as much as we could – thats why our family friend Dave made us the gorgeous bicycle wheel chandelier and we had bike details everywhere!! Style-wise we wanted it to be rustic (but not too rustic), elegant, relaxed and fun. We just wanted all of our guests to enjoy being there!

Our wedding was fun, comfortable, elegant, rustic – I changed my color scheme about a hundred times prior to the wedding but in the end it was mint green watercolor and gold glitter. Basically everything at the wedding was a DIY project! Everyone said it would be too much work but it was really important to us to have everything be personal and handmade. My sisters and mom and I worked so hard on everything to have it done in time! In addition to all of the handmade things, sentimental things were very important to us. All of the lace used belonged to our grandparents, the typewriter belongs to my grandmother, the table that the cakes were on belongs to my grandmother, the trunk used for cards was given to me by my grandmother, the glass bottles everywhere are from our grandparents houses and attics, the ladders that held our escort cards belonged to each of our grandfathers, the old books on the tables belonged to our grandparents, the watering can belonged to Peters grandfather.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? HAVE FUN! So many people get stressed out and worry about small, unimportant things. Your wedding is about you two as a couple and nothing else. If something is out of place or if a floral arrangement goes missing – chances are no one will even notice except for you! We are very laid back people and we made a conscious decision prior to the wedding to not worry about anything and so on our wedding day, we just relaxed and had fun. It was amazing! Also, don’t feel like you have to do anything you don’t want to do, just because it’s a ‘wedding’ and you feel like you should. We didn’t cut the cake, I didn’t throw my bouquet, and we didn’t introduce our bridal party at the reception – simply because we didn’t want to! It’s about you two and celebrating your love, and that’s all. Don’t worry about what anyone else will think!

Sunken Gardens Florida Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

Photos by:

By the Robinsons

A Valentine’s Day wedding – what could be sweeter? Lynne and Alex wanted their wedding to reflect the holiday without going overboard, focusing instead on their vision of an enchanted jungle wedding at midnight. Are you sold yet? Let’s jump into the pretty from By the Robinsons, Laura Helm of Ashton Events, and Shawna Carpenter of 2 Sisters Events & Design:

sunken gardens florida wedding - photo by By the Robinsons http://ruffledblog.com/sunken-gardens-florida-wedding

From the bride, Lynne: Alex and I met while we were living on the Big Island of Hawaii our first house together was a treehouse in the middle of the jungle. We envisioned an enchanted jungle at night, and because it was Valentine’s Day, we tried to add some flirty hearts and red and pink elements (without going overboard).

I think a theme for the wedding was “Midnight in the Garden.” Our color scheme was different blush pink shades with pops of poppy, aqua and marigold. We wanted our wedding to be fun, floral and full of sparkle and great lighting. The most important thing to us was that our guests danced and had a great time. Alex is a graphic designer and illustrator; all of our print materials and decorative signage were designed and executed by him. Our wedding planning, Laura Helm of Ashton Events was handcrafted many of the decorative/interactive elements, such as glitter hair-clips and heart-shaped tie clips so that guests could wear a flower when they entered the ceremony.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? For me, having a creative planner was key. I would definitely advise couples to let someone else share your stress and remove a few things from the to-do list. Even with a wedding planner, there are still a lot of decisions for the bride and groom to make. I would also advise couples that are planning a wedding to take one night off a week from wedding planning to go on a date and talk about other things. Keep the process as fun as possible.

Sweet New Hampshire Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Let me start off by saying that if you love pink, red, and gold half as much as we do, you’re going to lose it over this wedding. Jake and Julia’s wedding is busting at the seams with romantic hues, glittery accents, and wildly creative ideas, thanks to the bride, her friends, and her event designer, by emily b. Tin Sparrow Studio was the perfect choice to capture the wedding day, don’t you think?

From the bride, Julia: When Jake and I first got engaged we knew immediately that we would be married in Portsmouth. We both love our seaside city and the creative community that exists here, and made the decision early-on to source most of our vendors locally. We are lucky to know so many talented individuals and wanted to involve as many of those people as we could in order to make our day feel as special and personal as possible. Our hope was to create an environment for our friends and family that allowed them to really be immersed in the love that we have for each other.

Being creative people by nature and business, Jake and I had a pretty specific visual aesthetic and knew that we would need an amazing event designer to help us realize our vision and an amazing photographer to capture it. We wanted our wedding to be memorable not just for how beautiful it looked but for how beautiful it felt for everyone involved. What we ended up with was a whimsical, romantic and completely one-of-a-kind celebration that was a perfect representation of our love. Our wedding was truly a dream come true.

Glitzy Bohemian NY Wedding

Bohemian Weddings

This wedding features a New York bride and an Irish groom who met while living in Madrid and married back in the bride’s home town. As a nod to their worldliness and love of adventure, the couple laced their wedding day with hints of travel, ranging from luggage tags to city signs. Izzy Hudgins Photography and French Knot Studios made it possible for us to share this beauty today, so let’s jump in!

wedding portraits - photo by Izzy Hudgins http://ruffledblog.com/glitzy-bohemian-ny-wedding/

From the bride, Carisa: My husband and I met while living in Madrid, but have spent the last 4 years stateside. He’s from Ireland, I’m from upstate NY. It makes sense that we have an affinity for the “Old World” charm that takes us back to that time when we first met, within places and spaces whose walls and grounds are filled with character of days passed. Although we were getting married in the United States, we wanted to find somewhere here that had some of that character. The Hudson Valley lent itself to just that, and a wedding date in October made perfect sense to take advantage of its well renowned fall foliage. The Church, the Winery (Reception venue), and the rental home we were staying in (where I got ready that morning) are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places and were all built in the 1800s. (1839, 1895, and 1858 respectively.) The stone structures and pristine gardens provided the stylistic elements we loved and the misty dewy morning certainly added an extra Irish ambiance to our day.

To say that this was a global affair would be accurate. Not only did guests travel from afar, but resources were utilized from all over the country, and the travel concept was embedded throughout in the décor. Being that we were in a winery, we also carried on with a beverage theme and decided to name the tables after a medley of international watering holes that have been part of our story. The centerpieces were a mix of DIY monogrammed wine crates and various beverage glasses (spray painted and glittered,) finished off with the perfect touch of stunning flowers. When I look at photos of the reception with the tables in the background, I see the miles this truly collaborative effort traversed… the trips home when my Mom and I scoured thrift shops for the beverage containers, the wine crates created in my parents wood shop in NY, stained and aged by my husband on visits from Alaska, with some expert guidance from our stylist in Georgia. Another handmade product of my parents’ wood shop is the wedding card box that was created with reclaimed barn wood from a nearby 19th century farm. This was designed with input from myself, my husband and my parents and is a treasure we’ll have for years to come to remember our day.

There was everything from a secondhand eBay dress to a Rent the Runway selection to a last minute (literally the week before) Macy’s gown for the 5 Months Pregnant MOH! From the bride, Tiffany: From the time Chuck and I became engaged, we both agreed that we wanted a small, intimate affair. We also wanted to celebrate the milestone in a way that perfectly represents the juxtaposition that is our relationship: him, the flannel-wearing country boy who loves the outdoors and whose favorite hobby is paddling on the river; and me, the sequin-wearing city girl who loves everything bright and shiny. Factor in our mutual love of history and animals, and Middleton Place was a natural and easy selection for our wedding venue. It offered an opportunity to have a wedding that simultaneously had a rustic yet glamorous feel to it. We also wanted to incorporate some personal elements into the reception – decor and design elements that reflected who we are as a couple. For us, that is our mutual love of and passion for animals. I was very fortunate to have a planner who understood and shared that vision and who was able to incorporate little details like animal seating charts and place cards and feathers, which added a sparkling sense of whimsy without the kitsch.

It was designed to be an updated/contemporary version of the cascading bouquet my mother carried down the aisle 30 years ago and included my great-grandmother’s engagement ring, which was secured to the stems with champagne ribbon.

Our theme was glamour and animals – or “glaminals,” as my planner and I took to calling them – and it incorporated a blush and champagne color scheme. To achieve this style and feel for the wedding, my planner took on a number of DIY projects, including spray painting lanterns and animal place cards for the reception with gold and silver glitter paint. She also spray painted and chalked old windows and window frames to create signage and a seating chart for both the cocktail hour and reception.

Final Dance: “She Was the Prize,” Gaelic Storm
When Chuck was just a boy, his father played Van Morrison for him for the very first time. He told him that when he was older and he found a girl he liked, Van Morrison would teach him everything he needed to know. And he was right! And so, we danced our first dance as husband and wife to Van Morrison’s “Crazy Love.”

Peach and Gold Georgia Wedding

Rustic Weddings

Photos by:

Ariel Renae

It’s just a fact, Ariel Renae and beautiful weddings just go together like peanut butter and jelly. Abby and Chris’ romantic wedding was hardly an exception, and took our breath away as soon as we saw Abby’s incredible long-sleeved Jenny Packham gown. Oh, and that peony and garden rose bouquet from Juli Vaughn Designs? Don’t even get me started.

From the bride, Abby: I wanted our wedding to be romantic and slightly whimsical with a few rustic touches. We were married under a pergola, so I knew I wanted a beautiful installation on it. We wanted the centerpieces at the reception to look collected and to be different on each table. Aside from the specific decorations, I just wanted the day to be happy and fun and to have beautiful weather (which we got!). We wanted our day to be romantic, whimsical, rustic, not-too-serious, and happy, with a palette of mint, peach, and gold.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? All the time, effort, and energy you put into wedding planning will be worth it! Although I eventually got so sick of all the planning, our wedding day was absolutely my favorite day ever, and I love how it turned out! However, it still would have been my favorite day even if things did not go as planned or something went wrong with the music/decorations/food/etc. because, at the end of the day, I married my favorite person! So, try not to stress about getting all the details perfect. While you will certainly appreciate how your wedding planning finally comes together on the big day, you will not look back and remember whether all the details were perfect; you will remember how happy you were and how fun the day was!

Guanacaste Destination Wedding

Beach Weddings

When you have friends and family spread out across the country and nothing sets your heart beating faster than travel, a destination wedding seems like a natural step. Maegan and Kevin chose Costa Rica as their location of choice, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! This elegant wedding had a few handmade touches that made it so personal, like the milkglass vases dipped in paint that went along with a subtle colorblock theme matching the groom + groomsmen’s ties. Katherine Stinnett Photography came along to capture all the gorgeousness:

romantic Costa Rica wedding via ruffledblog.com

From the bride, Maegan: We had always had our heart set on having a destination wedding; we love traveling. We have family and friends spread all over the country, from California to Boston. So knowing we’d be asking our loved ones to travel no matter where we chose to get married, we thought it would be best to make a vacation out of it for everyone. It is truly a once in a lifetime experience to be on vacation with 45 of your closest family and friends! The best part of the destination wedding is that it keeps it so intimate, and you are guaranteed to be surrounded by those who love you the most and genuinely want nothing more than to celebrate your wedding. So hard to choose one favorite part but I think we definitely have to give our favorite moment of the day to dancing in the pool with all our guests – so much better than a regular dance floor.

Our style is simple and modern. We knew we wanted the feel to be elegant but relaxed so that our guests could fully enjoy the moment and the gorgeous surroundings. As the bride I struggled with loving so many different beautiful ideas, but Tropical Occasions was able to get to know us and create a wedding style that showed our personalities perfectly.

groom and groomsmen - photo by Katherine Stinnett Photography - via http://ruffledblog.com/guanacaste-destination-wedding

It was simple, sparkly, and absolutely beautiful – a kind of “beach glam”. Our colors were mint green, coral pinks, and tons of gold! I did several DIY projects and would’ve loved to do more, but had to keep the suit cases to a a manageable number. I’m most proud of the color block skinny ties I handmade from the grooms and all the groomsmen. They were inspired by one I fell in love with that was $100 a piece, and I made all 7 of these for $60!. We also DIY’d our luggage tag save-the-dates, the sparkly gold “BAR” letters, hand painted most of the vases for the flowers, tissue paper garland that was hung beneath our wedding guestbook poster, pompom toothpicks, “his” and “hers” personalized drink signs, glitter party straw flags, and the “M&K” cake topper letters.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Consider a destination wedding – a week long celebration with your closest friends and family is a once in a lifetime experience! If you can afford one, hire an event planner. It is more than worth the money. I had not one stress or worry throughout the entire planning process, even though we were planning a wedding in a totally different country. Our wedding day especially was completely stress free and we could just enjoy every second and not worry about a single detail, thanks to our planners. Tropical Occasions was out of this world. Start the DIY projects early! I did regret trying to sew 7 ties in the 3 days before we left for Costa Rica – I’m a procrastinator. Lastly, spend the money on an amazing videographer. It is so worth it to have that memory to relive forever. When you’re in the moment, you try your best to take it all in. But you’re so overwhelmed with emotion and excitement, it’s impossible to absorb it all. Oh yea – don’t stress about the weather!

1920s Inspired Ace Hotel Wedding

Romantic Weddings

Photos by:

onelove photography

Oh, Ace Hotel – there’s just no end to our love affair with you. Amanda and Cody’s Palm Springs wedding was complete with an “I love you to the moon” theme designed by the bride, with a touch of floral design from My Little Flower Shop and images by the always-superb onelove photography. Let’s jump in!

classy ace hotel wedding via ruffledblog.com

From the bride, Amanda: We had the hashtag “debacker magic” because we wanted a magical wedding. AND because all the men in the family say they have the DeBacker magic. What was important was family, friends, dancing and food. We had an “I love you to the moon” wedding theme. I incorporated a 1920’s modern feel to match the atmosphere of the Ace. We had gold and white chevron runners, bright flowers with gold accents and vintage 1920’s framed sheet music. For escort table we used marquee letters and chalkboard signs. I used paper flowers for our archway to save money and they matched perfect! We bought tons of cafe lights to fill the room with soft light. Our photobooth backdrop was inspired by old “man in the moon” photos. We had the Ace cater and the food was amazing! It was tacos! Our guest said it was the best wedding food they ever had. It’s all about throwing a great party and being in love.

I highly recommend the first look. We got married at sunset so we had to do the first look. At first I was concerned it would take away from the ceremony, but it was amazing! It actually added another “experience” for the day that was exciting, romantic and personal. When I walked down the aisle it was a completely different feeling and moment, and now I had 2 of those moments! My husband cried almost the whole ceremony and first look and I laughed and smiled all day. We were full of emotion and all the pictures captured that! The wedding video we received after was a splurge, but the best decision I made. I have watched it over and over.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? No matter how many times you hear it from other brides and don’t believe it, the day goes SO FAST. You don’t care about the things you thought you would or notice the things you thought you would. Start planning early so you can relax closer to the date.Create an atmosphere from your heart. What mattered most to me was music, lighting and great food. I wanted to throw a party! Use Etsy for every idea you have, they have it all. I did all the planning and ideas myself. Also, please get a hair and makeup person! I know it’s expensive, but it’s so worth it! Relax, drink champagne and take it all in. Mine were amazing.

Whimsical Pennsylvania Wedding

Whimsical Weddings

I know dinosaurs might not seem like a typical point of inspiration for a wedding, but today’s bride shows just how easy it can be to take a non-traditional idea and make it into something extraordinary.
Caitlin Thomas Photography photographed the wedding at Pennsylvania’s Succop Conservancy full of sweet details and glitter signs!

Whimsical Pennsylvania Wedding photos by Caitlin Thomas via ruffledblog.com

From the bride, Lena: I have always wanted to have an outdoor ceremony and reception. When I started my search, I was a little bummed at the options in Pittsburgh. I finally came across Succop Conservancy and scheduled a visit immediately. We viewed the property in January when it was literally frozen over and had about a foot of snow. But even then I knew this was the place and we picked our date shortly after. We went and visited the site again in the spring and it was everything I imagined. It was so naturally beautiful that I knew I didn’t want to take anything away from that. Right away I decided that I wanted to do more neutral colors with decor. I used a lot of whites, creams and burlap material throughout the venue for decoration. I had my girls wear white dresses that they each picked themselves and tried to keep everything simple. I have a strange love for dinosaurs and knew that I also wanted to try to incorporate that into the wedding without it looking like a 4 year old’s birthday party. In the end, I just wanted people to attend and think that this could be no other than John and Lena’s wedding.

I tried to incorporate glitter, gold, and dinosaurs without taking it overboard. I also wanted a little bit of a rustic vibe as well and I think the entire day really embodied everything that I wanted. There were so many DIY projects that I did. The longest and most time consuming was the dinosaur and heart walkway. The dinosaur drawing is one that I’ve done for years and my husband actually got it tattooed on his ribs the first week we spent together. That project was just cutting out tons of tons of dinosaurs and hearts and gluing them to sticks. Other DIY projects was the bunting/flags that went in the reception area, cornhole boards, my save the dates, decor for the arbor and the entry way into the reception, wedding wands with bells, all the signage that was used at the venue (NOM, BAR, YAY glitter signs, Lena & John’s Lovely Love Story sign), my matron of honor found the small dinosaurs and spray painted them gold for me and the night prior we did tied all the place cards to each dinosaur, the mason jars that were spray painted gold/rose gold and all the centerpieces were done by me and my ladies.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? The best piece of advice for couples doing DIY actually came from my matron of honor and it helped tremendously with my planning! If you are doing projects think of completing those projects in terms of weekends and not how many days until the wedding. Weekends are really the time when you’re going to be able to sit down for an extended period and put some effort into getting these projects done. Also, no matter what, make sure you really enjoy your wedding day and don’t sweat the small stuff. There are always going to be a few things that go wrong or might not happen the way you expect it but it’s really not going to effect the day. Just sit back as and try to absorb and take in everything that is happening. It really does go by SO quickly.

Casey Brodley, Photographer

I’m not a traditional wedding photographer. My background and training is steeped in photo journalism, so that’s how I approach a wedding. My goal is to document the day, not stage it. I let moments unfold naturally, with minimal prom posing and minimal “say cheese” interference.

As a photo journalist, I come prepared for anything. Every wedding is different. I have witnessed full-grown men weep more times than I can count. I have seen smiles so wide that I’m concerned someone may burst a blood vessel. I have climbed mountains with all my gear. And this one time a sprinkler system was triggered during a ceremony.

As a wedding photographer, I walk into every job with the guarantee that I will witness pure joy. But more importantly, I walk into every job with the probability that my day will end with cake. I like to keep my cake-to-work ratio balanced. For health reasons.

Blacksmith Inspired Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Today’s styled wedding shoot just goes to show you can find inspiration in unlimited places. Tyler of Tyler Rye Photography formed this shoot after seeing an anvil in a farmer’s work shed. He brought Swoon Vintage Rental Co. and Floral Design by Erin on board to help complete his vision, and the rest is photo shoot history!

blacksmith inspired wedding ideas // via ruffledblog.com

From the photographer, Tyler Rye: Forged was inspired by a simple Anvil. I was working at a farmer’s house and happened to look over and see his Anvil setting on a stand near his shed. It clicked in my mind how cool it would be to do a Black Smith themed wedding shoot. I started that day to gather antique smithing tools – everything from hammers to smelting tools. The couple that modeled are friends of my wife. They have been married for two years and this was a great way for them to reconnect as a couple. The location has been a dream spot for me ever since my wife and I had our Engagement pictures taken there 3 years ago! I had a lot of help getting this shoot ready and I couldn’t have done it without the help of my wife. Not only did she do the hair for the model, but she arranged both the tables and made them look amazing.

Glittery Thanksgiving Wedding Ideas

One of the things I love most about Thanksgiving is the incredible dinner parties that come with it. Being surrounded by those you love, the most amazing food of the year, and rich, festive colors makes me warm and fuzzy inside! Additionally, these great dinner parties can often translate into equally fab reception tablescapes, like this one put together by Jessica White Photography and Branches Event Floral.

From the stylist and florist, Amanda Schelin of Branches Event Floral: Nestled in the hills of Alpine, UT, our team brought their talents to execute this picturesque, fall- inspiration shoot. We wanted to design a natural setting with a rustic structure and feel, juxtaposed with the glamor of gold glitter. Amanda from Branches Event Floral wanted to infuse peach into the colorscape, so as to do a spin on the natural or typical fall colors you see in wedding decor. Paired with shades of raspberry, pear, apple and champagne, the palette was one of mouthwatering edibles.

Swoon-worthy details like fresh fruit and glittered feathers set the tone for the shoot with their unexpected approach as décor. The flowers were left lush and bountiful to mimic the fall harvest. The cake was simply divine with its buttercream layers and simple design. Christina of Once Upon a Cake created our cake and dessert spread. What shoot would be complete without the perfectly designed paper suite? Design by Lauren Ashley created our beautiful menus and invitations, which sported gold-glittered envelope lining and the just the right touch of peach in the invite card.

Rose Gold Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

If you never fell completely in love with the recent gold trend, then rose gold might be more up your alley – I tend to think of it as gold’s more romantic sister. With the help of Anthomanic creating floral arrangements, photographer Katelyn James Photography put together a shoot full of metallic charm and alluring table inspiration with a show-stopping dessert table to top it all off.

rose gold wedding ring photo by Katelyn James via ruffledblog.com

From the photographer, Katelyn James: Amanda Veronee is the owner of Anthomanic, a highly successful floral design company based out of Stafford. Amanda chose rose gold and soft blush tones as a romantic, elegant, and feminine wedding inspiration. She also considered the baroque period as inspiration for the decorative elements such as the chair, headpiece, gold calligraphy, ornate beaded gown and other exaggerated elements. The rose gold coloring and romantic theme were carried throughout the table scape with the abundance of taper candles accented by a dramatic, cascading floral centerpiece of white hydrangea, copper amaranthus, peach roses, and ivory spray roses.

Kate Spade Inspired Wedding Event

Wedding Design

So we may have an obsession with gold, but who can blame us? Add some hot pink and polka dots, and we’re set for life. b.loved Wedding Design and Styling made our day with this Kate Spade inspired wedding event. Captured by Anneli Marinovich Photography, this workshop was for wedding pros, but the setting would work just as perfectly for a wedding. Absolutely head over heels about the cake frame!

Kate Spade Wedding Table // photo Anneli Marinovich Photography
From the stylist, Louise of b.loved Wedding Design and Styling: Earlier this year I was approached by the team behind The Editorial Wedding workshops to style their inaugural event in the UK, teaching professional wedding photographers the tricks of the trade in shooting, editing and submitting their work for publication in the international wedding media. I was asked to design and style the ‘styled shoot’ element of the day – an open brief with no set theme!

I wanted to create a fun and exciting concept to capture a fun & fresh idea to inspire brides. I’m currently loving the trend towards bold, citrus-y colors so picked a bright pink palette against a monochrome background, inspired by the sense of fun, use of color and clever girly touches by one of my favorite designers, Kate Spade. Teaming hot pink and gold against a monochrome backdrop creates a striking table display, with statement floral center pieces adding elegance and prettiness. Using gold accents lifts the whole palette with fun contemporary touches like the gold dipped glassware and polka-dot plates. The stripes and polka-dot graphics are carried throughout the paper elements – a fun & modern suite with added sparkle! Giant balloons and tassels add another touch of fun while the escort card display is a totally unique concept – tassels hung between two giant balloons! A super cute element of the shoot was the cake & dessert table! Framing the cake is a simple & fun way to create a feature.

Throughout the design I was conscious to include elements that couples could realistically incorporate into their day, whether DIY elements or cleverly sourced props. I think the shoot fits perfectly with the fresh and fun style of Ruffled, and hope you think so too!

There’s something so perfectly fresh about hot pink mixing with bright blue — sort of a girl-meets-boy, really — that makes this styled shoot from Leo Evidente and A Charming Occasion jump out at us every time we peek through the images. Of course, when you toss in flowers by These Buds A Blooming and the whimsy of Yarn Bombed Antlers‘s decor, you just can’t go wrong!

Wizard of Oz Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Sandy Tam

I don’t think I could begin to count the number of times I watched “The Wizard of Oz” as a young girl. There was something about the magic of whimsy, those sequined red shoes, and of course the flying monkeys that always kept me captivated time and again. A few years later, I still love seeing bits of design pop up inspired by Dorothy and her travels, just like today’s shoot from BLoved Events and Sandy Tam. Add in a wedding gown from Rivini with endless layers of tulle, and I’m smitten!

world of oz wedding shoot

From the stylist, Berlyn Lai of BLoved Events: The magical and whimsical world of Oz was the main inspiration for this styled shoot. Ever since Emerald was announced as the Pantone colour of the year, I have been secretly hoping to plan a wedding leveraging this vibrant colour. Also knowing that the new movie Oz the Great and Powerful was being released this year, I knew I wanted to design a styled shoot inspired by the classic Wizard of Oz movie.

While Sandy (the photographer) and I were brainstorming ideas, we agreed that we wanted to take a whimsical route for the shoot, but layer it with various elements. Inspired by Dorothy’s signature ruby red shoes, I wanted to find ways to bring in pops of ruby red, but not use a literal interpretation from the original classic. Instead I loved the idea of gold glitter shoes accented by a red sequined heart clip, which could also be indicative of the Tin Man’s heart. The wedding dress was inspired by Glinda the Good Witch, and the intricate beading on this Rivini dress reminded me of the brick road.

We chose gold for the guest table canvas and layered textures for our table scape to bring out the whimsy of the land of Oz. We used unique details like nested charger plates and made our own emerald green glitter plates. The guest favours, a candied apple, were beautifully sculpted by SweeterE. The centrepieces were a lovely mix of red anemones, ranunculus, dusty millers and twigs, surrounded by mercury votive candles. One of my favourite details of this shoot was the DIY string chandeliers, which added another layer of whimsy and texture. The cake and dessert table was filled with a beautiful 4 tiered gold and emerald cake, cake pops and cupcakes to tantalize your palate. Everything came out as beautifully as we originally envisioned, and we had a great time working with this wonderful team. I hope we can now inspire couples considering a Wizard of Oz theme to challenge the norm and go outside the box.

St Patrick’s Day Wedding Inspiration

Wedding Design

Photos by:

Nine Photography

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, all! We’re about to run off to dye our drinks green and don our finest emerald apparel, but before we do, I wanted to leave you with this inspired shoot from Grit & Gold and Nine Photography. Stylist Lottie Fowler whipped up an intimate dinner with touches of emerald, gold, and some woodland creatures (you might spy a glittery deer or two), and not to mention a beverage station with Guinness and Bailey’s Irish Cream!

st patricks wedding shoots

From the designer, Lottie of Grit & Gold: We wanted to do a very authentic approach to the tradition of Saint Patrick. With a lush Irish influenced tablescape, the focus was to sophisticate this celebration without the typical overload of shamrocks. We went with a color palette in emerald, gold, and turquoise. Subtle touches of Irish here and there are found throughout from the woodland creatures found in bell jars, homemade Bailey’s Irish Cream and Guinness station, gold painted beer steins, and lucky horseshoes.

Emerald and Champagne Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

CHARD Photographer

St. Patrick’s Day is creeping closer and closer, so we thought it would be the perfect time to share some Pantone inspiration! Emerald and the Irish tradition go hand in hand, and Sugar Branch Events filled this styled shoot to the brim with glitter, champagne, Irish coffees, and sequins! Thanks to CHARD Photographer for sharing your images with us!

green gold wedding ideas

From the stylists, Lindsay and Britt of Sugar Branch Events: Every year, we get extremely giddy about the release of the Pantone color of the year! We anxiously await to see what chosen color is going to dictate the wedding and fashion industry trends for the year ahead AND because it means we get to create a styled shoot based on the inspiration of that color (it’s our little tradition). 2013’s Pantone color of the year did not disappoint. We kept it mild, adding pops of emerald here and there, while blending it with lush golds, blushes, ivories and a hint of tangerine to keep it on the classy and sophisticated side. And glitter. We love glitter!

We wanted to make “Emerald” something that brides could really see incorporating into their wedding details. We didn’t go over-the-top “Emerald City” with this shoot because we didn’t feel that realistically many brides would actually want to have a completely Emerald green wedding. That’s why, by adding pops of Emerald such as the ombre Emerald paper goods, invitation suite, napkins, a sparkly bridesmaid dress and ribbon backdrop, we could feature the color in a soft and modern way. Blushes, golds, and ivory are really popular colors now, so why not soften the bold emerald with some always classic and sophisticated tones.

We added a secret board on Pinterest and invited all our vendors to be a part of the board! This was a great way for all of us to highlight our inspiration and develop ideas! We wanted brides with all different budgets to take away some inspiration from the shoot. We incorporated a few DIY projects for the crafty brides like the gold and glitter dipped wine and champagne glasses, ribbon backdrop, and latte bar. We also kept a beautiful level of sophistication with the table scape, sequin table runner, chargers, floating candles and floral centerpieces for the more discerning bride.

Bohemian Weddings

Photos by:

Whitney Darling

There are so many places I could start when describing what I love about this wedding, but I think it’s best to begin with what immediately caught my eye when I peeked through the images: the bridesmaids. Bride Jordan had her maids pick cream-colored dresses and then gifted them with black tights, making the overall look chic yet unexpected. In fact, we think that’s the perfect way to describe Jordan and Landon’s whole wedding day, brilliantly captured by Whitney Darling Photography!

bride and groom

From the bride, Jordan: My husband likes to say the feel of the wedding was “magical realism.” He’s somewhat joking, but it’s a pretty good description of the feel we were going for. We played off of the beautiful outdoor setting so that our decor would enhance, rather than overpower, the venue. I liked the idea of picking a few key elements and using A TON of them so that the wedding didn’t feel cluttered with too many different DIY projects.

We never really had a theme; I just started with things I knew I loved-like glitter, stars, and candles-and went from there. We used a lot of gold, cream, and seafoam because we didn’t want to overpower the natural beauty of the location. Pretty much everything at our wedding was DIY! Luckily, so many family friends and my bridesmaids got together for craft days. We “glittered” (a new term we made for my wedding) 8,000 wood coffee stirrers (and put them all in hundreds of gold glitter foam spheres) for the gold stars that we hung in the tree at the ceremony and all around our reception. My dad helped me build a giant white frame for the backdrop of the ceremony and I used ribbons, gold and silver foil curtains, and paper flowers I made with coffee filters that I hand-dyed.

We tied ribbons on the back of all the chairs lining the aisle at the ceremony and one of the bridesmaids put together the giant white balloon with ribbon and a silver star garland. For flowers, we went to the L.A. flower market a couple days before the wedding and picked out all of my favorite in-season flowers. A family friend, who happens to be a florist, helped my stepmom and some friends create all of our bouquets and the flowers for the centerpieces. I designed little halfsheets of paper that we had on the tables at the reception for guests to write notes and doodles rather than a guestbook. We glittered probably 25 mason jars and used small pieces of wood and paint (obviously with more glitter) for the table numbers. My stepmom and I painted some 250 coffee cups with chalkboard paint so that guests could write their names on their drinks (and because it looked so cute!).

A dear friend designed and created our wedding cake, along with another dear friend designing our programs. My freshman roommate from college made a bunch of delicious pies for our dessert bar, and other friends brought additional desserts for people to munch on. We actually got all of our cokes for the toast from Mexico (a family friend travels back and forth a lot and graciously picked them up) because my husband and I LOVE the vintage feel and taste of Mexican cokes. One of my best friends (and bridesmaid) did both my hair and makeup. This was entirely on a whim, we hadn’t even practiced the makeup or hairstyle that ended up being my final wedding look! My mother passed away two years ago, so it was important to me to have a “Wish You Were Here” table with pictures and a prayer for family members who have passed away.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? Don’t be afraid to play it by ear! I found that it was much more stressful to have too many concrete ideas because they often just didn’t work out or ended up costing more than I had originally imagined. For me, it was nice to be able to adjust my vision for the wedding as I went along because almost everything was DIY. Glitter makes everything so much more fun, but beware, it also will find a permanent home on everything in your house. I still find specks of glitter on my clothes, and every now and again I’ll see a small glimmer managed to make its way onto my face!

Be creative with ways to save money, especially prioritizing what matters most. We didn’t want to cut corners on photography, and I am so glad we didn’t. Whitney Darling was absolutely fabulous and made our wedding day significantly more fun and relaxed. However, we decided food wasn’t the most important to splurge on, so instead of a traditional sit down meal, we hired the In N Out truck. We saved money and got to eat a California favorite at our wedding. Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Doing projects and crafts with other people provided great memories and inspired even more creativity.
