Manhattan Loft Wedding
New York City is full of beautiful venues, but we may have found a new favorite in Gary’s Loft. This incredible spot was the perfect home for Ariel and Tommy’s wedding, full of touches of pink and enough rustic elements to balance everything out to perfection. Thank you to MGB Photo for sharing this one with us!
From the bride, Ariel: Before we got engaged, I had never thought about having a wedding. My dream was always to elope at City Hall followed by a small dinner party with family and close friend’s weeks later. However, we soon realized that our wedding might be the only opportunity we will ever have to gather our geographically dispersed friends and family in the one room at the one time. It was obvious that we were going to have to have a wedding, so we landed on an all-in ceremony and reception in New York City, with a follow up wedding celebration in the summertime (December) in Melbourne. When we began planning our NYC wedding, we wanted to truly reflect our personalities and to incorporate the things that we love the most. Once we found the venue, it all fell into place. Gary’s Loft is very eclectic, filled with vintage furniture, and tons of windows. It truly felt like somewhere that we would live, and in the end our wedding was a larger scale version of what I had dreamed of, a dinner party. It worked out perfectly.
We collected vintage blue glass bottles from flea markets and antique shops in California along vintage keys for the seating charts, and made sure all of the shelves at the venue were filled with pictures of our friends and family so it would look like our home. The invites and paper goods were all done by a local graphic designer Meredith Peck. We worked closely together to create a logo, and from there the invites, menus, and thank you gifts were born. We gave out tea towels to make the Aussie groom feel at home – Tommy’s family wraps their Christmas gifts in them every year!
Our amazing floral arrangements were created by the incredibly talented Denise Fasanello. She understood our vibe IMMEDIATELY, and was able to create the perfect look for our day. We were so lucky to secure her talents. She even jumped in and helped finish off our décor when we ran late on the wedding day! My best friend performed our marriage ceremony. He happens to be a journalist, so not only was it meaningful, but it was a well written/performed ceremony. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were all allowed to select their own attire. The “suggestions” were blush tones and grey suits. One of Tommy’s organizationally challenged groomsman was allowed a little more creative license with his attire, after all his belongings barring a surfboard, a wetsuit and his iPhone were stolen while he surfed in Southern California a week before the wedding. Blue is the new grey. October 6th was a day we will never forget. Everything we wanted for our special day fell into place. The venue. The setting. The décor. The speeches. The dancing. And most importantly, all of our friends and family under one roof at same time. Together for a day. We wouldn’t trade that for anything in the world! It was a day we will never forget.
