A Fun + Fresh North Carolina Wedding
I love when a wedding is all about the fun, and Carol and Wilson’s wedding was just that! Fun, fun, fun! They even had glow sticks, and what says “we bring the party” more than glowsticks?! Kellie Kano was on hand to capture this fantastic wedding, and I’d say she did a pretty rockin’ job! The focus may have been on fun, but that certainly didn’t take away from the the pretty factor. Just look at Carol! Her awesome veil, beautiful dress, and amazing shoes- she was an absolutely stunning bride!
More from the stunning bride herself, Carol:
Sweet, Fun, Funky, Stylish, and Rock ‘n’ Roll are just a few adjectives I would use to describe our wedding. Wilson and I have a passion for music and design, so we tried to incorporate these elements into our wedding.
How totally amazing is Carol’s veil? It’s so gorgeous, and to be honest, I’m a bit obsessed with it!
I found my wedding dress at a wonderful shop in Charlotte called Hayden Olivia. The women here were fabulous, and worked with me to find the perfect dress. I had been searching all over Raleigh and Charlotte, and I had not been able to find anything that was truly modern. Hayden Olivia has a huge selection, so I knew I would find my dress here. I wore the “Macy” from the 2010 Modern Trousseau Collection.
Love all the billy balls! They provide such a fun pop of yellow, and paired with those lush coral peonies, they create utter perfection.
I knew I wanted a sweet and romantic ceremony, but a fun and exciting reception. We are fun loving goofy people, so we wanted our reception to be a party where everyone we love could get together and have an amazing time.
We didn’t want a traditional cake with flowers or piping, but we knew we wanted lots of texture. Besides looking beautiful, the cake tasted amazing too! The layers alternated between a chocolate fudge cake and pound cake, with cream cheese icing, chocolate ganache, and raspberry filling.
The glow sticks, guitar picks, and concert poster guest book were just a few of the music-inspired touches that made our day great.
Some advice from Carol:
Don’t be stuck to what you decide in the beginning, because your plans will inevitably change. Go with the flow, and plan in the moment. You will have much more fun this way!

My obsessions: those SHOES & that cake! Both are luxuriously decadent and oh so beautiful 🙂
This is why i love to stop by Ruffled every single day… marvelous inspiration! Thank you for sharing.
This is bright and lovely!
I love that veil! Where is it from? I have been desperately searching for the right veil/headpiece, and I want something just like that! Any ideas??
love her headpiece and shoes. and love the fact that the bridesmaids have two different colors.
So excited to see my daughter carol and her new husband featured on your blog!!!
Loved reading your nice comments and seeing what Carol had to say too!
It was so much fun to look at all the weddings.
i’d also love to know where the veil is from! it’s perfection!
Vivienne Westwood heels! They are the trend for at least the last year! But I haven’t seen them in yellow and black before, I love the mixing of it up! Very cute. Love the brides maids dresses and the bride, really phootgraphs beautifully.
From Lyn – Mother of the bride- The veil is also from Hayden Olivia in Charlotte.
Carol wore it with a long cathedral length veil for the church and had just the birdcage only for the reception.
LOVE seeing my sweet couples on my favorite wedding blogs! Thanks so much for the feature, ladies!
What a gorgeous bride! I love the necklace she chose. And what a fun idea to have glow in the dark necklaces on the dance floor 😀
Love the glowsticks! Definitely an idea worth snaffling! xG
Love, love, love the style! From the bride’s veil to her shoes to the bridesmaids dresses to the bouquets…I’m loving all of it.
I love her veil!!! So unique! and maids dresses are so cute- the colors work great together
The woole ting looks good, but the detail that stood out for me was the incredibly cute owl cake topper… where is that from?!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Super cute shoes! But where to get them in YELLOW? (the yellow seems to be from last season’s vivienne westwood collection)
Melissa, they seem to be sold out most places. You may have to take to Ebay, but the search would be worth it. These shoes are divine!
My daughter really loves this dress. What color is Carol’s gown? We aren’t sure if it is white, diamond white or ivory. Beautiful!
