Wedding Day Bridal Inspiration

We must admit, we’re positively smitten with the idea behind today’s styled shoot from Sweetlife Photography and Swoon Floral Design. The images capture a bride taking some time for herself on her wedding day to reflect on everything that has led to this moment, writing a love letter to her beloved, and having it all captured on film photography for years to come. Breathtaking doesn’t even begin to cover it.

From the photographer, Jake of Sweetlife Photography: So much anticipation. She’s dreamt of this day since she was a child —- what would it look like? How would it feel? And it has finally arrived. There’s a schedule to keep. Vendors arriving and setting up. Family and friends whirling around to turn her dream into reality. And amidst the hustle and bustle, she stops to savor the moment. She steals away, a few brief moments to herself. She gathers flowers and writes a love note to her groom. These still, quiet moments slow the day down just enough for her to remember all that led her here. Our all-film shoot, “Foraged”, symbolizes this idea of slowing down on a wedding day and remembering to reflect on its significance.

With the Columbia River Gorge near Portland, Oregon as our backdrop, we weaved this idea of reflection and simplicity throughout our styling. Austie Eckley kept the bride’s look natural and organic, and Swoon Floral Design provided a simple green vine, a loosely bound bouquet, and loose floral stems to tell our story of thoughtful foraging. Truvelle provided their “Merly” gown -— the perfect dress to effortlessly catch the wind while balancing uniqueness and style. It features a sweetheart neckline, lace straps, and low lace-up back finished off with a thin grosgrain sash. JES Design Studio provided an earthy and stunning pink opal stone beaded bracelet and earrings to complete our bride’s look.

For our love letter scene, we asked Something Borrowed Portland Vintage Rentals to provide just a few beautiful elements to tell our story of poetic reflection and romance. Their Gerard Wooden Table and natural wood dining chair, vintage inkwell and dip pen, brass candelabras, and kerosene lamp set the stage perfectly. Kelsey Malie Calligraphy provided the hand-lettered love note in white ink set against a lavender watercolor background to compliment our floral color palette. The stunning Brazilian model Tábata Tveten, recently engaged herself at the time of the shoot and no doubt dreaming of her handsome groom-to-be, perfectly embodied the soft, calm, and romantic anticipation we hoped to convey in this shoot.
