Vintage-Inspired Seaside Wedding

Hope everyone stayed safe this weekend for all of us in the East Coast! Mastin Studio is bringing us sunshine all the way from California with a sweet seaside wedding in Carmel. Love the bride’s tea length wedding dress and cobalt blue heels! Of course we have many more stylish images to gaze over in the gallery.

From the groom: We both love the outdoors, so we decided to get married outside. We decided to hold our reception at Mission Ranch to extend the feeling of being outside: the patio provides expansive ocean views, and the barn gives a rustic feel. To go along with the rustic outdoor theme, we collected vintage bottles and jars for the centerpieces, and the florist filled them with wild and garden flowers. Adrienne’s dress was altered to be reminiscent of a fifties dress.

In addition to collecting vintage jars and bottles, Adrienne and some loyal family members did a few projects. We spray-painted animals silver to hold the table numbers, made flags for people to wave at the end of the wedding ceremony, and packed DIY ice cream kits for favors. Adrienne also made all of the paper goods: the invitations, programs, and cards for guests to leave their wishes. We bought the pinwheels that were at the ceremony from an artist on Etsy.

Adrienne doesn’t normally like cake, so we struggled with the choice. Our solution was to order a dozen small cakes (and several dozen French macarons) from a fantastic local bakery. We really liked that we could get creative with the flavors by having lots of small cakes, and Adrienne was particularly won over by the strawberry cake.

The summer that we first met, we’d roam around the South Bay singing “With a little help from my friends” with our group of friends. We’re both shy about dancing in public, so we made our bridal party stand up and dance with us to that song.

  • Beautiful! Everytime I see gorgeous weddings like this it makes me wish we could legally get married outside in the UK at locations like this.

    I love the seaside vibe!

  • That’s so funnY! I didn’t even recognize that as Carmel and I have been there myself both recreationally and for a trash the dress shoot and for a wedding at the Carmel Mission/Mission San Carlos! Absolutely lovely, and I so, So, SOOOOO mean that!!!

1 Hannah, I so feel you on that! I do not understand that law at all! It is bizarre to me, surely there has to be a reason why it’s against the law to get married outside int he UK but I have wondered for the better part of a decade now and have yet to think of a good reason! Of course, the solution is to get legally married inside and then have a ceremony outside that is personal or spiritual or whatever! I think you can do that, I have heard of that, right?

  • I totally love everything about this wedding. I love the bride’s dress and shoes, love the favors and the wild flowers in the vintage jars! And the spray-painted animals to hold the table numbers… great idea! Makes me wish my husband and I could get married again just so we could “borrow” some of the ideas!

  • This is my husband’s photography and I have to say it’s one of my favorite weddings of the year. I love the colors and the seaside. And, the bride? GORGEOUS! xo

  • Beautiful photos!! The guest notes are a fabulous idea for getting all of the guests involved. I would have loved to see what everyone put for the dog’s first name!

  • Lovely setting for a wedding I love the first image. Top quality!
