Urban Glam Wedding in Long Beach
Today’s wedding showcases the result when two styles fuse — one with a modern organic background, and the other on the more traditional side. Shalina and Chad’s wedding blended these aesthetics beautifully, using marquee signs, fuchsia flowers, and traditional ceremony pews to tie everything together. Thank you to Erin Hearts Court, Krista Jon, and Christina from Archive Rentals for all your wonderful work here!
From the event planners, Archive Rentals: Salty and sweet; coffee and tea; she and he… their 11 years in the making! With her Filipino and Indian heritage and his all-American Minnesota upbringing, Shalina + Chad’s union was a merging of opposites in the best of ways! While Shalina envisioned a modern meets organic design, Chad’s vision veered towards the traditional. The result? A perfect pairing of a church ceremony with an alternative after-party at an industrial NY style loft space, The Loft on Pine!
Favorite design elements included a lush, jewel-toned color palette to honor Shalina’s Indian background. With her love for rustic made new again, we used a mix of contrasting woods, vintage furniture, marquee lights + Edison bulbs. Archive Rentals along with their floral mastermind Krista Jon was the perfect fit to achieve Shalina + Chad’s vision! Vintage pews created church ceremony setting, while a custom backdrop of reclaimed barn wood hosted a heart marquee for a modern vibe. The design was complete with an industrial Edison bulb chandelier dripping with beautiful Krista Jon blooms!
In order to make best use of the multi-spaces of the venue, and to maintain an interactive environment, we created a lounge/cocktail reception for intimate ambiance. Weathered wood tables for mingling and lounging were topped with richly hued floral pieces. Farm-to-table elements of fresh pomegranates and artichokes complemented the lush arrangements for an earthy garden touch! With food + drinks being a passion of both the bride and groom, Urban Palate curated a delicious “his vs. hers” styled menu! Some of the favorite passed hors d’oeuvres included soyrizo empanadas, chicken nachos, lebanese meatballs, and flatbread pizzas. The entrees were a collection of action stations serving variations of sliders, tacos and meats.
To honor Shalina’s obsession with salt (she actually carries packs of pink Himalayan sea salt at all times) we suggested a salt tasting station where guests were able to sample various flavored salts from Laguna Salt, paired with chef suggested accouterments from Urban Palate. Guest gifts included take-home mini bottles of their favorite salts! Boozy popsicles and handcrafted Pharmacie cocktails were absolute must-haves! Dessert included butterscotch pot de crème, mini donuts, cupcakes and a cotton candy cart added an extra flair of fun! Shalina + Chad and guests were in awe of the stunning space, a unique yet completely cohesive feel for the couple’s passions for design, food + libations! Their day was filled with tears of happiness, lots of love and beauty at every turn… a perfect beginning to their 11 years in the making!
