Library Halloween Wedding Ideas

Wedding Design

If anything, Halloween is known for being the most dramatic of holidays — full of rich colors, elegant costume, and packed with imagination. When Danielle Capito Photography and Twigss Floral Studio collaborated for a Halloween shoot, they knew they wanted to develop some ideas outside the box, and we love that they approached the holiday with a Victorian aesthetic in mind!

From the florists Melissa and Addison of Twigss Floral Studio: We know that a lot of brides don’t fit into the “traditional” category and what is more unique and different than a Halloween wedding? With this shoot we wanted to show brides that it is completely okay to be non-traditional when it comes to your wedding, the most important thing about your wedding is that it reflects you as a couple! We liked the idea of switching it up when it came to Cristina’s wedding attire, we started her off in a full length lace black gown and then put her in a creamy white sequined shorter dresses for her getaway outfit.

Instead of a wedding cake we did mini treats, cheeses and fruits with rustic bread. In our shoot we wanted to bring in the elements of the dark and hard lifestyle of the 20‘s and also add a few touches of that very stuffy luxurious life style 1900s. So we decided to turn our studio into a Victorian home and stage the wedding in the man of the house’s dark library study. We imagined him to be a smart man yet slightly eccentric, interested in many things and it shows by the items he keeps. We littered the desk and shelves with creepy botanical and scientific findings, maps, and pages of books scattered on the floor.

To add a really spooky element we not only scattered book pages on the floor we swept them up the walls so it looked like there were some unnatural forces in the study. We used very interesting foliage like begonia leafs, ferns, black calla lilies and lady slippers to add a touch of creepy and dark into the bridal bouquet and through out the rest of the shoot. This time of year is a great time to have a darker styled wedding, the colors that are available in flowers are dark and there are a lot of interesting fruits and berries to incorporate and add texture.

“Photography so fresh you’ll want to slap it.”

In love wedding photographers with our suitcases packed for adventures. We specialize in personality driven portraiture and emotional storytelling.

Our number one goal on a wedding day is to show truth. We want the vulnerable honest imperfect and gritty real-life stuff. Ugly crying from how stinking happy you are to be married. We like messy hair and un-fluffed wedding dresses with dirt on the bottom, undone ties and tipsy wedding guests. Bring it.

Blanton House Brunch Wedding

Vintage Weddings

Looking at this wedding from T&C Photographie, you’d absolutely never guess that newlyweds Kindra and Taylor lost their venue a mere three weeks before their wedding. Luckily they stumbled across the incredible Indiana venue The Blanton House, which would soon house one of the prettiest weddings we’ve seen to date! We love the idea of lowering reception costs by hosting a post-ceremony brunch instead of dinner — not to mention more time for daylight pictures!

From the bride, Kindra: Three weeks before wedding our planner (Linda Cook) received some news; our venue was double booked! Calmly we called venues around the city. That day we went to visit the only venue still open. It was out in the country, I am not a country girl and I did not want a country wedding. I was certain it was going to feel like a step down from our current venue. I was so wrong. The Blanton House was perfect! Early 1900’s home with beautiful grounds and the most elegant white tent for the reception already in place!

Next we needed a caterer and rental company. Matt Mills, our caterer, fell into our lap with a brilliant brunch menu. We heard about the most amazing rental company Violet Vintage. They blew my mind! The warehouse was filled with unique lovely vintage items ranging from chairs to plates to old doors. We almost rented the entire place!

A week before the wedding we went to the floral warehouse. We hit another speed bump. We were told this crazy drought we were experiencing was going to inhibit any chance of getting the flowers I had always dreamed of having!

The week of the wedding my husband and I went to get our marriage license. When we got to the city we saw a huge weekly farmers market happening. I LOVE farmers markets so we had ourselves a look. We ran into a very cute woman selling beautiful garden flowers and it clicked. She was going to be the fix to my flower problem. The day before the wedding our day of planner Drew drove a total of 2 hours to get fresh back yard flowers from our new friend. Needless to say, they were stunning.

Our wedding day was a beautiful 80 degree day; which would make it the coldest day of the entire summer! My husband looked handsome and my maid of honor was beautiful! The ceremony site was stunning and the brunch was delicious! It was a perfect way to start a life with my best friend.
