What better way to sweeten up your Thursday than with a surprise proposal? Simply Rosie recently photographed her own niece’s carefully coordinated proposal to beau Connor, and we’re thrilled to see that everything went off without a hitch. Side note, how amazing is that botanical book page backdrop?!
From the photographer, Rosie: Connor and Jewel have been in a long distance relationship for a few years now. Connor lives in Texas, Jewel lives in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They met at a Bible camp where they both served as counselors! Connor emailed me asking to help organize a surprise visit and wanted me to be there with the camera. He also informed me he’d be asking her to marry him! Since Jewel is my niece, I jumped on board and started planning a Sugar Blossom Design shoot with Kelli, and we asked Jewel to model. She was not expecting to see Connor till the following month when she would be visiting him in Texas.
Since it was still chilly outside, we met at a greenhouse and set up for the shoot. A very unsuspecting Jewel and her sister arrived to model. Everything played out perfectly and as Jewel was faced the other direction while I was shooting her and some flowers, Connor entered the greenhouse. I believe the pictures tell the rest of the story better then words can! He went down on one knee after the initial shock of him being there, tears and lots of laughter, and a definite YES from Jewel followed! Well done Connor! They are planning a wedding for this August here in Manitoba.
