Sun-Kissed Wedding in the Mountains of Glacier National Park

bride and groom kiss in the Montana mountains with 2 horses

This stunning wedding in the breathtaking mountains of Galcier National Park in Montana is one for the books! Olivia & Logan met in Colorado, got engaged in the Swiss Alps and married in the mountains of Montana. So with a little faith, you could say their love can move mountains! Jeremiah and Rachel Photography beautifully captured their love for not only each other, but for mother earth as well. This sun-kissed mountain wedding is full of raw beauty, epic views, and our personal favorite…a few horses! Eeep!

From the Bride: “Proposal story: We saved every penny over the course of a year to backpack through Europe together. We purchased the tickets 8 months in advance, did a ton of research and set an itinerary and goals of what we both wanted to see. It was an extremely exciting time for the both of us, as it had been on our bucket list forever. Little did I know, Logan was carrying around a ring in a “secret zippered pocket” in his pants that he purchased specifically for the trip. He said he was terrified when we were in Paris waiting for trains in one of the pickpocket capitals of the world. He couldn’t wait to get the ring out of his pocket, and onto my finger, but wanted to wait until the perfect moment.

We both fell in love with Switzerland, the people, the beauty, the culture… everything! We went on an incredible hike that ended at the top of a mountain overlooking a serene glacial lake. There were some benches nearby, and we sat down to rest our tired feet and take in the amazing views. Logan said, “I wonder what’s around that bend… we should go check it out”. Content with taking a rest I said, “Why?! I’m sure it’s not more beautiful than this, I’m fine right here.” Secretly he wanted to get away from all of the people around. After a few arm pulls I went with him. He led me off the gravel path through the snow, we turned the corner and it opened up to the most beautiful view either of us had ever seen; that’s when he got down on one knee, and asked me to spend the rest of my life with him!

Logan and I met in Colorado but we had both lived and grew up in different states so we had friends and family all over the place. It was difficult for us to select a place to wed so we sent out a survey monkey to close friends and family with three different location options since most would be traveling. Glacier National Park was the popular vote so we started our planning there! We also loved that it was a place that neither of us had ever been to because we could create a special place for the two of us to go back and visit for anniversaries to come.

We fell in love in the Rockies, and Logan proposed to me in the Swiss Alps. Travel, adventure and crisp mountain air are a part of who we are and we couldn’t wait to share this experience with the ones closest to us. After reading wedding blogs and advice from other brides, one thing that resonated with us was that there is a lot of planning leading up to one day, you blink and it’s over! So we decided to rent a lodge for the weekend so that we could spend more time with family and friends and create an adventure for all that would be remembered forever. The lodge had a great big kitchen and outdoor grills where people took turns cooking meals for 40 and a bonfire where we spent the nights watching the moon rise over the mountains. It had a pond that we spent the day after the wedding swimming and relaxing by, and nearby access to hundreds of hiking trails in the park where we went on group hikes together. We couldn’t have asked for a better weekend.

We wanted to give our guests something special for traveling so far and being apart of our wedding journey. We brainstormed gift ideas but decided that an experience rather than an object would be something that they could cherish forever. The morning of the wedding we scheduled a scenic boat tour of one of Glacier National Park’s lakes. We sipped mimosas and cheered to love, adventure and nature’s beauty. Our photographers completely surprised us that morning and came along for the ride!

Our wedding was a complete DIY wedding. This day would not have been possible without the help of friends and family. After the boat tour everyone took a job, whether it was building the dance floor, running for beer, making the seating chart, putting together the bouquets, setting up chairs or setting the table. Each person chipped in and made the day possible and we will be forever grateful to you!
