City Chic Wedding Inspiration

Thanks to the incredible bride, all the stunning details, and the darling bridesmaids, we had to give this styled shoot from Roey Mizrahi and Allan Zepeda Photography a few good looks before we realized it wasn’t actually a real wedding! Roey was kind enough to share with us how the inspiration from this shoot could translate into a real wedding for all you brides and grooms planning right now, so keep reading!

From the shoot designer, Roey Mizrahi: This shoot was equally inspired by my company logo and my desire to show my personal style. I translated the colors directly from my logo by using the blue and orange color scheme but the challenge was in conveying what the concept of the logo meant to me, and what I wanted people to see; a balance of chic elegance with a vintage, rustic, whimsical touch. I feel like most people believe that playful whimsical elements cannot be chic, elegant and upscale and I wanted to show that people CAN create something personalized and whimsical and still have it be refined. I also wanted to show the transformation of the venue. People think City Winery and they imagine only wine lovers would choose to have their wedding or wedding related event there. I wanted to show people how all spaces can be transformed into a wonderful retreat that represents their individual style and aesthetic. Just like we transformed this New York City Winery into a chic, whimsical oasis. It can be done! It’s a matter of looking beyond what the eye can see and that’s where a Planner comes in.

The entire process of designing the cake was one of my favorite experiences. I knew I wanted the cake to be an overall display of all the elements combined in the shoot. Colorfully whimsical, rustic and chic. I sketched out a few various ways to combine all the elements and shared them with Nicolle (cake designer). You’ll notice the three tiers represent the three aesthetics we were trying to blend and of course using the signature monogram to tie them all together. The top tier is the chic tier, white on white with texture to add dimension. The middle tier is the organic rustic tier using the flowers as the inspiration and staying within the color scheme. The bottom tier is the whimsical tier that gained inspiration from the blue damask linen that was used on the table. I love how the monogram melts and blends into the tiers and how it is off centered on the cake. I could never have fathomed how perfect the outcome would be. Nicolle did an outstanding job of bringing my vision to life.

What do you hope to relay to brides who look at this shoot as a source of inspiration? Be true to yourselves, your aesthetic and your style. Let your wedding day truly reflect you and your fiancé and the relationship you have. Be bold and try and have fun with the process. In the end it is a celebration and if a simple linen, flower, escort card, cake, drink or any other element can ignite a feeling and emotion in your guests than mission accomplished!

Any advice for brides who are looking to emulate this look in their wedding day décor? The purpose of this shoot was to inspire brides! I would advise brides to talk to their planner/ designer and vendors about their thoughts, ideas and what they ultimately want to accomplish. They will help guide the bride’s vision into fruition.
