Pronovias Fall 2017 at New York Bridal Fashion Week

One of the perks of our job is that we get to spend our time looking at breathtakingly gorgeous gowns, and we know we can always rely on Pronovias to deliver some of the most awe-inspiring fashions around. We recently made our way to New York Bridal Fashion Week, where we saw the newest gowns from Atelier Pronovias and Pronovias collections, both designed by the firm’s creative director Hervé Moreau, up close and personal. Endlessly inspiring, the gowns embrace flowing lines and feature fine new fabrics plus a mix of styles sure to cover any bride’s desires.

For the coming season, the Atelier Pronovias 2017 collection features:

FINE FABRICS: For the first time ever, the firm is using stretch chiffon as an alternative to crystal tulle on gauze to create a second skin effect, sculpting the body and creating new volumes with its delicate texture and fall. The collection still contains fine fabrics such as lace, Mikado silk, crepe and silk gauze. The selection of fabrics also includes Chantilly lace, applied strategically to enhance the designs and emphasise the bride’s figure.

A PLETHORA OF PATTERNS AND NECKLINES: Atelier Pronovias features several patterns that fall into three groups: EMPIRE line dresses in fabrics like crepe, and bias cut designs that give a flowing, sculptural effect. MERMAID dresses are the unmistakable hallmark of the firm’s collection, with stylised lines that skim the brides figure for a sexy, very elegant effect. Then there are VOLUMINOUS styles made in fine fabrics such as lace on tulle that achieve an extremely light optical effect.

The collection also features new designs and cuts, such as one-shoulder styles, braided or embroidered with gemstones, and designs with open backs, many of them in the season’s newest fabric, stretch chiffon. For the coming season, the firm has brought back long, detachable trains, so that brides can enjoy wearing the same dress at the ceremony and then at the party.

Other hallmarks of the 2017 Pronovias collection are:

USE OF COLOUR: Gold accents and flashes of light fill the collection with life. The bridal colour par excellence is still white, which is there in its purest form or with subtle nuances of colour. This degradé effect is achieved by adding numerous layers of tulle in different pastel shades, such as pink, vanilla and green.

NEW MATERIALS: The firm has also innovated with paillettes and Valentina gauze, which are combined to emphasise movement and lightness in these dresses. That said, the firm is still using materials such as crepe, ethereal, translucent gauze and layers of lace.

LIGHT DESIGNS: The collection features different lines that slim the figure and give dresses a lighter appearance. There are combinations of regal mikado, with its architectural texture, and backs decorated with lace, flowing crepe and effervescent gauze. The collection also contains short dresses inspired by fifties-style cocktail dresses, with details at the shoulders, waist, neckline and back.
