For us, this whimsical NYC wedding was love at first sight – and how could we not be hooked with that suspended gold palm arch? Danni + Samuel couldn’t have made a better choice than to enlist Whimsy Weddings and Tree of Life Films to bring their vision to life, and we just love the laidback dinner party ambiance they created. Peeling plaster, vintage chandeliers and furniture with a history, this darling wedding has us reeling!
What style and feel did you envision for your wedding?
A simple, light-hearted, whimsical and bohemian, jazzy wedding and dinner. I wanted everyone to feel as if they’re part of a beautiful dinner party vs just a traditional wedding. Even for the cake – it was super simple (from maman in Soho) and didn’t make it seem like you were part of a wedding but instead, just a really nicely planned dinner party.
What are some adjectives that best describe the look of your wedding? Did you have a theme or color scheme?
Jazzy, whimsical, bohemian. The color gold was definitely sprinkled throughout the event from the gold-rimmed plates, gold cutlery to the candles stick holders on each table. Red was also emphasized in my nails and my shoes – that was super important because of my Chinese background – on festive occasions, we always wear red!
What flowers were used for your bouquet and/or floral arrangements??
In terms of flowers, I wanted something delicate looking – which is why we had that green flossy plant. But I also wanted to be slightly different and was obsessed with pineapples so I had mimosa floral put in these adorable baby pineapples. Other than that, we had beautiful pink and blush roses.
What songs did you play at your wedding?
We had a French jazz band based in Brooklyn play – The Bailsmen. We actually met them 2 years ago before we were even engaged and fell in love with their music. “Moon River” for mine and my husband’s procession. Wedding song was “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen,” and Sam and I danced a swing number to that song. It was an absolute blast.
Tree of Life Films did the video as well, and here it is!
