Modern Styled Engagement Party

White, green, and some touches of natural wood make this styled shoot from Echard Wheeler Photography, Michelle Amarillo Event Planning, and Studio Posy a modern hit, while the shimmery gold gown donned by the bride-to-be adds just the right touch of glam. If green and gold weren’t already on your list of must-have color combos, we bet they will be now!

From the event designer, Michelle Amarillo Event Planning: Marissa Digirolamo, owner/floral designer at Studio Posy and I became fast friends in our local wedding community upon connecting up during a bridal consultation long ago. Since that day we have worked on many weddings together. We discovered early on that we share the same aesthetic and sense of humor; this has led what to will surely become a lifelong friendship. It is this friendship which has led to many collaborations; the Glitter & Green shoot being our most recent creative endeavor.

Within the past couple of years an Arts District has emerged in the City of Norfolk, which is where Studio Posy“>Studio Posy is located. Last year, an art-loving local couple (Brother and Meredith Rutter) re-habbed an old building which had been sitting vacant for decades within the new district. It is called Work|Release and is located in the old Texaco building. It now houses an art gallery, artist apartments and studio spaces, and a gorgeous event space. The space is notably characterized by high ceilings, exposed brick, and huge windows that just bathe the space in natural light. We really wanted to do a shoot there to celebrate the arrival of this beautiful space within our burgeoning Arts District, so we conjured up a styled engagement shoot.

We knew that the style of the shoot needed to reflect the industrial modernity of the space. That was not a constraint for us, as our personal aesthetic leans more towards the modern. Tropical foliage and foraged local foliage along with bold blooms comprised the florals for the shoot. We loved the green botanicals mixed with the rich golds with the bright white walls and cool concrete as our back drop. I handmade the geometric gold shapes hanging above the table and styled the hexagon wall; we loved mixing all of the bold botanicals in. Not enough can be said about our amazingly talented photographer, Echard Wheeler. We were so lucky to get to work with him on this shoot. Last but not least are our gorgeous models. Their warm presence enacted all of our styled elements and certainly brought the space to life.
