Loveland Ohio Wedding
We’re kicking off the weekend and welcoming June with a gorgetastic wedding shot by none other than Clayton Austin. In addition to spotting bottle centerpieces, we’re absolutely head over heels about their ombre paper crane backdrop. Such easy DIY ideas with a huge bang-for-your-handmade-effort-buck!
From the bride, Krysta: We really wanted our guests to feel comfortable and have a great time. We wanted the entire event to feel personal and homemade- like a bigger, better backyard dinner party. We took care to incorporate elements that were special to us- for example, our brisket was from Slow’s BBQ in Detroit where the bride grew up. The wedding cakes were brought in from NYC (we dated two years long distance before we got engaged- she in NYC, he in Ohio, so half of our courtship was spent in New York). Our best man (aka the cupid who introduced us) wrote and performed the ceremony, we wrote our own vows (which got a big round of applause). We heard so many of our guests comment on how comfortable and personal everything felt. How delicious the food and cake were. The night ended with our groomsmen jumping into the pool naked, so I’d say everyone enjoyed themselves!
We did a ton of DIY projects- I purchased a lot of vintage glasses from a friend of a friend who had just gotten married and painted all of the clear bottles different shades of yellow. That same friend cut all of the wood disks we used on our tables for us. We arranged our own flowers, planted our own succulents, made a wedding chuppah, and painted all the table numbers. I made all of the name/table number tags that adorned our mason drinking jars. We hand dyed all of our napkins (a time consuming project that I loved in the end). For the things we couldn’t do ourselves, we tried really hard to find small, local, or handmade vendors so every element felt personal.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? If you are designing your own wedding or doing a lot of DIY projects start to narrow down your inspiration into a few key elements that work well together and can be executed on time (everything takes longer than you think!). It is very easy to get overwhelmed by all of the possibilities and inspiration out there but if you go with your gut, choose the things that make you happy and excited and stay true to yourselves as a couple you can’t go wrong. Something is not going to go as planned along the way- take it in stride- in the end you get to marry your best friend surrounded by your loved ones and it is the best feeling in the world.

Really beautiful and intimate. Love the reds and corals.
Amazing wedding!! Really really beautiful! Could I ask where you sourced the napkins that you dyed?
love the origami cranes!
LOVE the lush colors and the incredible details they created! What a beautiful wedding! Origami cranes are always such a fun touch!
Beautiful! Love the long sleeved bridesmaid dress..where did she get it?
Thanks for the compliment! I thought it was too plain initially so I’m glad you like it! It’s from the Diane Von Furstenberg collection from maybe a year ago. Got it on Shopbop.com.
The napkins are from raglady.com. We used the 20″ 100% cotton napkins.
