From the stylist, Kristin of By Emily B. : My birthday is May 1st. I’ve always loved it so much because has usually arrived in New England, the leaves are showing up and animals emerge after a long winter. The new warmth has this ethereal, soft quality that I always soak up when potting my first flowers. But also, and more importantly, Cinco de Mayo is five days later. And since tacos are my favorite food and margaritas, my favorite drink, this also makes belated birthday celebrations extra sweet. Because of this, I’ve always dreamed of doing a Cinco de Mayo wedding shoot. Stretching my legs creatively during my favorite time of year while also honoring the Mexican-American culture we are so lucky to have in this country.

We partnered with some of the best New England vendors I’ve ever worked with. I wanted our beautiful model to rock hair and makeup that pushed the envelope. We wanted it to be surprising and inspiring, yet realistic, approachable—something a daring bride may try. Making Faces and Hair that Moves understood exactly, giving us a bold, colorful eye, a punchy lip and a full, yet refined updo. The dress, OH THE DRESS. Blush Bridal & Formal tossed this Hayley Paige design out the moment I said “Cinco…” and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Reserve Modern built us an exceptional lounge, featuring their Scallop Swivel Chair and yellow glass FLY pendant lights, and provided table rentals that really spoke to the vision. Can I set every table with a pink-rimmed tequila shot?!

My team brought it all full circle with bright, punchy florals, featuring Coral Charm peonies, yellow pin cushion protea, tiny yellow orchids, and locally-grown Spring Ledge Farm purple parrot tulips. We did some hand lettering on terra cotta pots, which we finished off with a variety of cacti.
