Jewel Toned Wedding Ideas with a Surprise Proposal
We absolutely love when styled wedding shoots use real-life couples, because occasionally we’ll end up with a magical scene: a sweet photo shoot turned into a live proposal! Alondra Vega Photography, Loba Design Co., and Let Destiny Design created a fall scene filled with vibrant color, including a unique and textured paint stick backdrop for the ceremony. Let’s take a look and hear some more about the day directly from the team:
From the photographer, Alondra Vega Photography: When planning this styled shoot, most of the vendors and I knew we wanted some colorful but still fitting into the upcoming fall season. Jewel tones have become my absolute favorite after this shoot. It gives that moodiness with pops of vibrant colors. The ceremony backdrop was made by the lovely Ashlyn Krall of Loba Design Co. She took paint sticks and copper bars to create this goooorgeous backdrop! I gave everyone full creative freedom and they all surpassed my expectations. I could not get enough of the plate settings from Treasury Rentals. The green and blue glasses were to die for!
The couple in this shoot have been dating for about 2 years. I found them through a mutual friend on Instagram. Aren’t these two the cutest?! On the way to the shoot, I jokingly tell Lily (the videographer) “What if he proposes?! haha” Well, when Lily and I separated the couple so I could get some photos of the groom and Lily could get video of the bride, Matthew (fake groom) pulled me aside and he asked me if it was okay for him to propose at the end of the shoot. I obviously said yes!! We finish the shoot and Matthew left the ring where they were getting ready earlier in the day. As Meredith (bride) starts to take her shoes off, Matthew stops her and says “I want you to stay in the dress for a bit.” Meredith, confused, asks “why?” At this point we were in a room that was a bit messy from getting ready! So I interrupt and say “Hey sorry can we get a few more shots of you holding the cake outside?” We go outside and do some shots. Then I take the cake away from Meredith and I told her I wanted to do some more shots of just them. Then, BOOM Matthew proposes!
