Industrial Railroad Museum Wedding

New York City couple Emily and Robert made their way down south to Savannah, Georgia for their lovely DIY wedding. The couple make a living designing movie props, so it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that their big day would be full of quirky and thoughtfully handmade elements. Thank you to Mackensey Alexander and Ivory + Beau for your beautiful work on this day!

From the event designers, Ivory + Beau: Emily & Robert were probably one of the coolest couples we have ever worked with. This couple from New York City design movie props for a living. The week of their wedding the groom was even contacted by the company doing the Ben Affleck movie that was being filmed in Savannah. He of course had to turn it down explaining that while it was ironic the movie was being filmed at his wedding venue where he was getting married that week…

These guys loved anything funky, quirky and weird. Some of my favorite details from the wedding include the Bridezilla dinosaur, the backdrop that the couple gave us full freedom to design for them, and all the DIY vases that the bride and groom made themselves with rust-spray paint. Their wedding was filled with foraged greenery from around the venue mixed with blooms and the biggest bouquet I’ve ever put together ever. Their industrial rustic wedding was unique, customized to fit their style and so much fun to be a part of. They made so many elements of their wedding, from their Lego sets as gifts for the guests, and handmade escort cards engraved with the guests name. For table numbers, they sent out DIY embroidery sets, so guests could stitch them themselves (such a great idea!)

Not only did we get to plan and do their flowers, but Emily also got her dress from our bridal boutique! She chose Cascade by Sarah Seven, which has gorgeous gold lace cascading down the skirt. She even handmade her own sash and hair pins, so her wedding was DIY from head to toe!
