If this green wedding aesthetic is one thing, it’s fernalicious. Lizzy and Nat’s industrial Chicago wedding venue is teeming with texture-forward ferns everywhere you look from the linear aisle markers (how cool is that ceremony layout btw?) to the hoop chandelier. And Flowers for Dream brought all these verdant elements to life in the prettiest way! Of course, our own Ed & Aileen Photography was there to capture the most darling moments of the day, and we’re overcome with emotion every time we read about the symbolism L+N filled their day with – read on to see for yourself!
From the couple, Lizzy and Nat:
Our Pie Day wedding was a celebration of our community and our values. We planned our wedding to be a reflection of the kinds of group processes that we love: community organizing meetings, youth groups, and participatory learning spaces. For our ceremony, we took our inspiration from the four elements. Our lead facilitator and officiant invited our circle of guests to reflect individually, in small groups, and then out loud on short readings connected to our core values: authenticity (fire), divinity (air), partnership (earth), and grace (water).
Sharing was done popcorn style; we were surprised and touched by who chose to offer their reflections. Our candle-lighting ceremony and community song were led by our given and chosen families, followed by our vows, framed around the same values. We asked each other directly to consent to our shared life together, and then were pronounced forever babes! It was such a meaningful day, and we are so grateful to our community for supporting us.
