Industrial Chic Florida Wedding

Bride Becky has been a long time reader and sent over her wedding to share in its full glory. She and her husband Peter wanted an industrial glam soiree, and believe it or not, she handmade many of the details shown below. Thanks Becky + Peter and Kallima Photography for the gorgeous images!

From the bride, Becky: We really tried to approach the entire wedding with a relaxed elegance style and feel. Our desire was for guests to feel comfortable, but also treated to a fun evening of music and food.

We always laugh because for years my family watched the movie, “Father of the Bride,” and each and every time my father would agree with Mr. Banks about the idea of crepe paper and balloons. Of course, that was the early 90’s and crepe paper and balloons are sooo much cooler now. Nevertheless, I didn’t want a crepe paper and balloons kinds of wedding.

We saved money buying wedding items such as the floral vases online from other brides, making most of our ceremony decor, buying a dress from a large producer, buying the groom’s tux from Rue La La. We splurged, and when I say splurged I mean, paid industry standard prices, but was still expensive to us on rentals, flowers, photography, and printed panels for our ceremony of the wedding invitation without the words. Despite the costs, these are things I wouldn’t go back and change because they proved to be good decisions. It is so very important to work with reputable people, because their reputation usually precedes them and you want to work with them.

Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? We are all trying to save money, but unforunately, sometimes the old adage, “you get what you pay for” applies. Hire trustworthy, reputable, and people you generally like as vendors. For example, Ben and Rebekah Hood of Kallima Photography exceeded our expectations and we beyond thrilled with our pictures.
