Handcrafted Pink Georgia Wedding
When I first read that bride Amanda planned her wedding in one week, I had to go back and read it a few more times — and I can still hardly believe it! Her beautiful vision was brought to life with the help of Dawn of Yellow and Krista Turner Photography, and featured a healthy dose of hot pink, white, and grey with wooden accents thrown in.
From the bride, Amanda: I love the urban feel, and even more so, I enjoy seeing everyday materials used in clever ways: sort of like Anthropologie in wedding form. That’s why I chose Dawn Verhey, of Yellow. She is an “everyday resources” genius.
The color scheme was hot pink, white and grey, against a raw wood medium. Dawn, of Yellow, designed and built [with her husband], simple, clean and affordable pieces for the wedding: benches, aisle runners and a pergola. She made the majority of the props for the wedding, as well as crafting several pieces of custom wall art, that we are keeping for memory’s sake.
Any advice for brides planning their weddings now? If you are thinking of having a simply designed, clever, unforgettable intimate wedding, call Dawn Verhey, of Yellow. She made my dreams come true.
From the photographer, Krista Turner: This sweet wedding at home was a beautiful reminder that a marriage should begin at its roots- and what better way to manifest that idea than to literally get married in your own home. Dawn Verhey of Yellow styled the entire day in lovely hot pinks, greys, and wood grain, and it came together flawlessly. I especially loved their guest book: an old typewriter where friends and family typed love notes to the couple. And the most amazing thing about this wedding? It was ALL planned in less than a week. (Yes, really.)

This is amazing! I love the hot pink. The little flags that say “yay” and “super” are an adorable touch.
Yay! Every time I think of this wedding, my heart does a little flutter. What struck me most (in the sea of hot pink wedding loveliness- and especially that suitcase I’m kind of obsessed with) was how wholly everyone was there, present: hearts wide open and full of emotion. The bride, the groom, and every single guest who was there to love them. I’m so honored to have been a part of their wedding day.
Love the play of shapes and colours! What material was used for the ceiling decor and how was it installed?
Hope you don’t mind if I steal the flalet idea. They are so adorable!
