Glamorous Seaside Soirée Wedding with Glam Details
It’s never too late in the week to add some glam to your day, right? Alex and Dustin had a southern beach wedding that’s nothing short of elegant and full of personal details, with A.J. Dunlap Photography taking the reins behind the camera and Forget-Me-Not Flowers tackling floral duty. We’re smitten with that floral arch + chandelier combo at the ceremony!
From the bride, Alex: I wanted it to be a southern, formal, black-tie gala — elegant, beautiful, glamorous, coastal, and romantic. I would describe the look I was going for to be glamorous and classic. I wanted everything to be light pinks, light purples, ivory, gold, and sparkles! I would describe the theme as a “Glamorous Seaside Soirée.” I am from Eastern North Carolina and love everything coastal, so I wanted to make sure to highlight the coastal beauty of our venue throughout the details of our wedding.
Flower recipe: We used all pink peonies in my bouquet, and all white hydrangeas in my bridesmaids’ bouquets. Throughout the wedding we used pink peonies, light pink and light purple roses, garden roses, and white hydrangeas. I preferred the packed look when it came to the floral design of the arrangements in our wedding.
DIY projects included: An oyster shell that I painted with gold-leaf paint that served as our ring holder, gold pineapples that we spray-painted and used throughout the reception decor, a personalized monogram that we used on our cake, napkins, cups, and pillows in a lounge area of the reception, rose petal ice cubes for our champagne toast bucket, memory table signs and framed photos.
Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? My husband would say, “The proposal is the guy’s thing, they get to choose, when, where, and how that happens. So let your woman plan the wedding of her dreams, because the wedding is her thing” and I would have to agree. I’ve dreamed of my wedding since I was a little girl, I just needed the man to put my plan into action! Other than that, advice I would give is to get your big items planned and booked as soon as you possibly can so you don’t have to worry about those items, and everything else will fall into place!
